I had a couple of jobs so went of to do that. When I got home about 3 in the avo what I saw was shocking in the extreme. Her indoors had emptied about half the house contents on the back lawn . Pots pans etc she was doing 100 miles an hour and had again enlisted the confused looking kids. I started yelling at her. What the fuk what the fuck. Why. She said I have to clean the whole house or ghosts will come and kill all family. At this point I knew something was wrong.

She was frantic and out of control I dialled 000 for an balance and explained my wife having some sort of breakdown. Un be known to me one of the neighbours had heard the commotion and belled the cops. Cops arrived and I explained the situation and they entered the house to talk with her. By then she had already put a garden hose in there and was washing the carpet and curtains . And just when I thought things were calming down the other neighbour. The one that tried to stab me about a year ago pops out finding it all highly amusing. It was all my will power not to beat 7 shades of shit out of this clown

There was no reasoning with her. I called some Lao friends and asked them to talk to her but they said nothing to worry about just a Buddha day. I said do you put the hose in the house every Buddha day. Is this what I've got to look forward to every year.

Had she been on the magic mushrooms? Even inadvertently, Thais in Oz drive miles to pick mushrooms I’m not sure I would trust their horticultural knowledge.

I even called her mum in Lao . Couldn't help . But she spoke to her mum and was hysterical . I knew something seriously amiss here. The ambulance crew took her to royal perth hospital mental health emergency unit after several hours a doc called and said she's had some kind of phsycotic event and she will be staying in tonight

I went to see her this morning she was happy to see me but said there's snakes in her room. Had a long talk with the doc. She has been involuntarily admitted. Meaning she cannot leave of her own free will. They will observe her until Friday they don't know what triggered it yet but I've suggested maybe problem at work? Or maybe delayed grief of a good Filipino friend passing away of cancer last week? Oh and also she was the whole time clutching a small box containing 50% my dead mums ashes . The other 50% went to Scotland to join dads ashes. Mum really loved Lao and we want to take her ashes to scatter in the Mekong. Is this all weird enough? I can assure I'm not laughing at the moment

^^^ I like the taste of moon cake during Autumn festival. One can buy them here from Chinese stores or from Chinatown.

I don't know how prevalent ghosts are in Western/ Caucasian cultures, but they're common in Asian cultures - both in the Buddhist countries like TH, Laos, Vn and in a Christian country like PH. That's part of the reason why we have house blessings and spirit houses (for Buddhists) and grottos or altars (in PH).

Here in PH, in the cities there's not much belief in ghosts or spirits but in the countryside people still believe in them. The times when I stayed with friends (in their parent's houses) in Visayas (very rural towns), they warned me of ghosts, "mangkukulam" (equivalent to witch) and other supernatural beings.

Before my ancestors were converted to Christianity by the Spaniards, ancient Filipinos were tribal in nature and their religions were animistic. Some people still believe that trees, mountains, etc harbor spirits.

I do believe that there are some things that cannot be explained and have had some weird or supernatural encounters. They were all at my different workplaces and it was either very early morning or late at night (overtime).

BLD, I don't know what's bothering your wife, but does she have experiences of "seeing" ghosts or spirits? Maybe she's seen one/ some, and maybe you need to have your house blessed or exorcised.

I have heard the experience of some girlfriends - they were my "sisters" in an organization. They were 3 or 4 girls sharing a flat. They said that they all felt weird/ bad vibes in that flat. After several weeks of that discomfort, the housemates decided to ask a local priest to go to their house to perform exorcism. They fetched the priest from the church. As they (the girls plus the priest) walked nearer the flat, they all felt very heavy, as if something/ some being was preventing them. Anyway, the priest and the girls did their prayers. After that, the feeling in their flat felt slightly better. However, because of the bad vibes they all decided to leave the flat & look for other lodgings. The ladies were in their mid or late 20s at the time.

    ****

Another thing that I can think of is early menopause or hormonal imbalance. I don't know if your wife takes contraceptive pills, but many women develop adverse effects from pills and some have stopped taking them.

    ****

Wish you & Mrs BLD all the best. Sorry for the long post.

Jeez sorry to hear that BLD!

Its frustrating because you don't know the trigger and she won't let you help.
    Particularly distressing for your kids.
I should imagine she will be sedated for a couple of days till they can get a psychiatrist who can speak Lao.

My Mrs had an episode after we split, brought on by stress it was thought.

The kids came with me post divorce and she, well lets say she wasn't the ideal mum in the run up or post split - no blame from me, shit just sometimes happens but when the dust settled she turned in on herself and wouldn't speak to anyone, for weeks. Then began the odd behaviour, and cleaning the flat she got repeatedly, daily top to bottom. She went shopping with he kids and bought all the same stuff she'd already and threw out the stuff she'd bought, rinse and repeat. This went on for 2 months on and off until the kids starts getting scared. Oldest was 10 at the time and youngest 3. It worried the fook out of me and them, thought they were losing their mum....again but worse this time.

@BLD - will it help if a monk comes to pray and bless your house? You may not believe in those things (spirits/ ghosts) but she does.

Does she have an open (or partially open) 3rd eye?

Btw, I've dreamed of my dad several times already - he passed 8 years ago.

I've "seen" some weird things. On one occasion, both a male colleague and I saw the same "thing". That colleague also has a history of seeing stuff. I think some people are more sensitive/ attuned to these things than others. I also have some friends/ colleagues in a former workplace who saw/ heard/ experienced stuff, usually when they worked late/ overtime. That area was a place where they threw dead bodies during WW2, then it was converted to offices.
