Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanapat, the Deputy Chief of Pattaya Police is the officer in charge of the investigation and he spent the morning interviewing the driver of the sunken boat, Khun Giti aged 31. He presented registration papers for the boat which were found to be in order. He explained that life jackets for every person on the boat were provided and worn. However, three of the passengers decided not to wear the suits. These are the three who were injured. Khun Giti explained to the passengers that because of the high winds he wanted them to remain in their seat and refrain from moving around the boat. He claims that the passengers disregarded his instructions despite the hazardous sea conditions. In a tragic twist to this story we understand that one of the Turkish passengers is currently missing. He is a 36 year old man named Ichami Ozturic. We understand that dive teams are combing the waters off of Larn Island. The owner of the boat has confirmed that for the sake of the image of Pattaya, he will fully cooperate with the investigation.
