A drunken British tourist who violently rocked a baht bus “for fun” ended up getting punched in the face by its driver.

Philip Champreks, 39, complained to police he’d been punched in the eye by the taxi driver and assaulted by other passengers April 4.

Champreks received three stitches for a cut.

Champreks admitted he was violently rocking the pickup truck, but said he was only having fun.

Clearly intoxicated, the Brit then stormed from the station without pressing charges and ranting about unfair treatment.

in upside down britain the bus driver would have been arrested, detained and charged with assault. even if he had only pushed the drunk gently aside.

weeks of police inquiries and reams of paperwork later it would have gone to court.

the drunk would have got legal aid to pay for his legal fees and the bus driver would probably be heavily fined and lose his job.

the drunk would receive compensation.

yes, the thais do sometimes get it right.

Perhaps a punch in the face upon arrival for Brit's should be brought in as a mandatory procedure.

That's what I was thinking- a lot of these drivers are ex-Muay Thai fighters- an elbow (if you can get close enough) is a way smarter move than hitting with a non-gloved fist- the Limey is lucky he didn't get kicked in the teeth.

I agree but only on the basis the same treatment is extended to all Farang's coming here especially ignorant know it all loud mouthed obnoxious yanks, aussies and certainly all of drunken skandies who visit or live here!

I wonder if the passengers really got involved, or he's just boosted the story rather than admit it was a 45kg cab driver.

Had limited trips on baht buses but the ones I have used have been filled mostly with old folk, mums and kids, not bands of ninja warriors.

Maybe an old betel-nut chewing woman hit him with her handbag.
