German Victim Locates The Teenage Thief

The German man found the teenage thief, who robbed him after spending the night with him

Pattaya, 5 April 2011 [PDN]: At 3 a.m., Police General Lieutenant Chuangchot Mongkonthanayut, Inspecting Officer of Pattaya Police Department was approached by the German victim, Mr. Schneider Sven, 38, and his Thai friend, Mrs. Ampon Huges, 43. They brought along a 15-year-old suspected thief named Miss Sornthapat Manchinawat (resides at No. 140, Moo.5, Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi).

Mr. Sven told the police he spent last night with the suspect in his apartment (room 940, Yen Sabai Condominium) after an earlier encounter with her on a Song-Taew bus.

The next morning, Mr. Sven found the suspect missing along with his properties including a 15,000 Baht mobile phone, a 4,000 Baht digital camera and 8,000 Baht cash.

With the assistance of Mrs. Ampon, the German victim located the thief at an apartment near Chaimongkol Temple. They took her to the police station immediately.

Miss Sornthapat admitted that she traded the digital camera and the mobile phone at a pawn shop in Noenplubwan Soi in exchange for 1,500 Baht. The teenager claimed that she had stolen for the first time to pay for her daily expenses. She denied stealing the cash.

The police did not believe her denial. Hence they will continue their investigation. In the meantime, the police will locate the missing items at the pawn shop and return to the owner

I'm confused...a 15 year old girl spends the night with this guy, but he doesn't get done for anything....

The story isn't clear, so i guess she must have slept on the sofa and out of the goodness of his heart he gave her a roof over her head....right? Or am I reading this wrong...?

I dont think he should. meet a girl on the bus and shagged her and now finds out she is 15. Anywhere else in Thailand most wouldnt blink a eye if he was Thai.

I would love to see the face on this angry looking bastard when(hopefully) the police inform him he's under arrest for underage sex.

Really cannot understand why they would have even let him walk out of the police station, just plain disgusting.

As for the comments about telling her age; in our home countries, mistaken age is not a defense to statutory rape, why should it be here.

Even if the police here don't do anything, he will most likely be prosecuted for sex crimes in Germany and hopefully lose both his passport and his freedom. I wont do it, but anyone who feels strongly enough about it can cut and paste an e-mail to the German embassy or police.

As most farangs cant read Thai dates and it is pretty hard to tell a many Thai girls age. If it was up to me I would give him the benfit of the doubt.
I dont think sex at 15 is against the law here doesnt seem to matter to the 15 year olds married with kids in the village.

It says there was an 'encounter' on the Baht bus, then she went to his place. The coppers and journo should be asking exactly what happened.

Doesn't matter if he knew the age, the law is clear. This same rag is reporting on guys being arrested for shagging 17yr olds with fake IDs.

Age of consent is now 16, but did he shag her? Most likely did, Thai police aren't really investagative, the complaint is theft, thats what they are investigating, not rape charges etc.

This ostensibly makes the Thai unfettered age of consent 18.
