In Socialist Laos you can't fuck any of the local lasses unless you marry them first .. so I guess the local ladyboys get a lot of action.

^ And in communist Alabama it's illegal to buy sex toys.
^ Can you rent them?
In non-conformist Suriname they'll force you to watch reruns of Coronation Street and bludgeon you over the head with a hurdy-gurdy if you endeavour to list the potential societal benefits of a semi-traditional nuclear family.

He has a great point. The state of some of the couples in Thailand is beyond a joke, they really should look at bringing in some sort of restrictions in LOS. Not the same as Cambodia have done, only allowing 30 days entry per every 6 months to over 50's who don't hold business visas would be a good start.Koy Kuong (Government official) said. "I want a couple to look like a real couple, not like granddaughter and grandfather."

^ Good one ..
^Please stop the inane comments and irrelevant questions .. I nearly choked on my coffee.
Thailand doesn't need this wave of washed out foreign pensioners drifting up on her shores to make fools out of themselves.
^Agree. They're doing fine by themselves.
Not really a problem as most of the fine ladies in that worthless country are VIETNAMESE . Ever see a hot cambo ? Nope, but those lookers from Saigon in PP are the best in the East.
You didn't see much, did you? Or just hang out at Walkabout?

It will take a LOT more to improve the appearance of Pattaya than an idiotic idea like this one, maybe Abi could borrow about ten Appache gunships for a weekend? that could do it!Originally Posted by DJ Pat

Your plan would do nothing to deter the stereotypical sex tourist as most only visit the Kingdom a week or two at a time, once or twice a year...
And what percentage of the punters who "wash up on Thailand's shore" do you suppose are over 50? Plenty of younger scum drifting around too...
So, what about the cashed-up farangs over 50 who do have a bit of moral turpitude, wife, family, investments? You want to ban them too? You seem to forget that Thailand has created the non-immigrant type O-A visa program specifically for this age group of people...
It boils down to supply and demand... If Thailand were to crack down on the sex industry, there would be no punters... Prostitution is supposedly illegal, while the establishment turns a blind eye as they sully up to the trough...
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

This is actually a logical decision by the Cambodian government. They are doing what comes natural, that is to keep Cambodia, Cambodian, not a country full of lower-working class half breeds that don't fully "fit in." The vast majority of these marriages are lower-working class Westerners living off small pensions or getting by working menial jobs with no pensions marrying lower class and uneducated native women. It is much rarer for an affluent and educated woman to marry out of her culture. The men in these marriages can't give their kids any type of future because they are often old and wont be around, nor do they have the savings and pensions to leave them a good bit of money to get started in life. They also don't have that extended family structure to fall back on if times get hard like the Cambodians/natives do. The more you have of these type marriages, the more you water down the Cambodian culture, and that is the most important factor.
Mr Gibbs, I think you are way off base on this one. What you describe as lower-working class half breeds are actually some of the higher paid, more educated members of Thailand. They are usually born to a western father and a Thai mother who may, or may not, be from a poorer backgoround. What you wind up with is more money being put into a family that is considered "poor" in Thai terms and actually givng an education to someone who can uplift the entire family to a higher econimic status. What you call a small pension is a huge annual earning when compared to the average Thai. Because these westerners come to a different land, since the cost of living is much less that their homeland, does not make that indivudual "low rent." You are also wrong when you say the father can not give his children any kind of future when he is gone. Have you ever heard of survivor benefits? This would be paid out by many countries until the child is 18 years old at which time they should have a much better education than the norm.
The only thing you did get right was that women of higher econimic means do not normally marry men from other countries. There is not financial need unless they fall in love with a farang and support them, but I do not see that much of that in this country.
It does not water down the Cambodian culture or the Thai culture as you have stated, so get a clue and turn on the lights.
Just don't marry your Cambodian girl friend! This is the greatest shack-up excuse I've ever heard of!
