Phuket Expat Found Dead in Upstairs Room

    Thursday, February 24, 2011

AN EXPAT who has been living on Phuket for more than 10 years was found dead in a house in Rawai yesterday.

He was Andreas Born, 49. Mr Born's body was found in an upstairs room of a house in a soi near the landmark Shell Museum.

Neighbors alerted police, who said Mr Born had probably been dead for several days. Police were told he was a quiet man who drank quite a lot of whisky.

Police found empty whisky bottles in the room with Mr Born's body.

His family in Germany have been notified. The body is at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket City.
"Slavery is the daughter of darkness; an ignorant people is the blind instrument of its own destruction; ambition and intrigue take advantage of the credulity and inexperience of men who have no political, economic or civil knowledge. They mistake pure illusion for reality, license for freedom, treason for patriotism, vengeance for justice."-Simón Bolívar

He probably didn't die of alcoholism alone, it's a long slow painful way to check out, he almost certainly had an other underlying condition which was more of a factor in his death.

If his passport was issued in 1997, wouldn't it be expired by now?

Exactly, I don't understand why drunkards don't move from Thailand to Phils , Tanduai is 1/3 the price of Thai whisky ... TAT should make a campaign about this to shrug off the low quality tourists she is always complaining about.
