    Chiang Mai Reds on rampage

    Chiang Mai Reds on rampage

The red shirt bikers in Chiang Mai ignored the curfew, coming out in force to set fires to car tyres in several places throughout Chiang Mai and attacked several Bangkok Bank's branches according to Thai Rath website.
Two fire trucks were set ablaze. Newin Chidchob father in law's Chiang Mai Construction Co building suffered extensive damages and was torched. However, the people in the buiding were prepared and could extinguish the fire.
The police and soldiers are now on motorcyle patrol to confront the red shirt bikers.

As someone who is paying very little attention to all this, please tell me why Bangkok bank are a target?

I just saw on channel 7 a news item where a Bangkok bank in Din Daeng was being ravaged by fire, of course the main thing the reporter noted was that there was a farang nearby who was filming the fire with a camcorder. The reporter commented "that he looked drunk".

So there, while their country burns, they don't miss an opportunity to shift a little bit of attention onto their favourite target. Shallow MOFO's the lot of them.

Bangkok Bank closes in face of protest

BANGKOK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Bangkok Bank officials said their headquarters shut its doors Friday afternoon in response to a protest by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship.

The Bangkok Post said bank management cited safety concerns for staff and customers regarding the suspension of bank services early Friday afternoon.

United Front leaders allege the executives at the bank helped finance a golf course in Thailand's Chanthaburi Province that is encroaching on the Khao Soi Dao forest reserve.

In addition, the protests allege the bank's honorary chairman, Gen. Prem Tinsulanonda, was involved in the 2006 coup that forced Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra out of office.

Bangkok Bank Vice President Theera Aphaiwong said Friday's protesters had vowed not to use violence while exercising their constitutional rights.

Theera said managers at nearby Bangkok Bank locations were informed they could shut down if the protest turned violent.

Nearly 500 police officers were on hand to preserve the peace in and around the bank headquarters Friday, the Post said.
