Expressway nearly all the way. Three tolls as well I believe if I recall correctly. All you need to do is foolow the signs for Raminthra from the Chonburi-Bangkok motorway.Quote:

Then you are heading South, cross Rama XI and you are in Ekkamai again.
this rail link doesnt seem so convenient for those going to the airport, but will make the journey into bkk from the airport a lot simpler, avoiding all the taxi, limo hustlers and the price fixing scams.
easy to jump on the train from the airport into bkk, and then hop into a taxi to your final destination.
So how are you going to get from your condo to the rail link? Taxi?Quote:

A new train line sounds much more relaxing and safe.Quote:

Onto the BTS?Quote:

You'll have to get off the BTS again, walk to the rail link station and then onto another rail link train.
The systems are not interconnected, which means different trains and stations. I believe there will be a walkway between a BTS station (likely Phaya Thai) and Makkasan. So if you are coming from Sukhumvit you may have to get three trains; a BTS/MRT/Rail link combo. :)
Think of how much hassle that is going to be if you have luggage or a family in tow!
It seems I was correct, you will have to change trains and walk to different stations to use the rail link. The closest MRT is Petchaburi and the closest BTS is Phaya Thai.
Again, the systems are NOT interconnected and are only (possibly) joined by walkways.
The Express Airport Train also only runs from Makkasan so getting to Phaya Thai will require another change from an airport commuter train to an Express train, going from Phaya Thai to Makkasan. :)
So you have the choice of the following from Thong Lor:
1) BTS Thong Lor to Asok > MRT Sukhumvit to Petchburi > Makkasan Express rail link to airport.
2) BTS Thong Lor to Phaya Thai > Phaya Thai Commuter rail link to Airport (will take longer than 15 minutes as it stops at several stations on the way.
3) BTS Thong Lor to Phaya Thai > Phaya Thai Commuter rail link to Makkasan > Makkasan Express rail link to airport.
Whew!
Malako there is no thong lor stop for the link to the airport. the key to it being fast is that it is point to point. They will have a slower train that makes some stops, but none anywhere near Thong Lor.
Malako: You'd be far quicker getting a taxi directly to either Makkasan station and hopping on the Express link to the airport or getting a taxi up to Khlong Tan and getting the Commuter rail link to the airport at the Ramkhamhaeng station outside Nasa Vegas.
But once you are in a taxi...
Guys, Malako's combined experience of Thailand consists of a 2 week holiday in Pattaya circa 2003, and a 1 night stop over in Bangkok. His extreme lack of Bangkok Knowledge is showing through, he does'nt even know what is around the area he claims to live in.:mid:
'Google' will be working overtime right now on his PC.
Oh Dear Dotcom, usual childish over reaction when someone politely (for the sake of accurate debate) points out you are wrong.
And honey....you are wrong.
I know where BGH is, I'm looking at it right now out of my window and there is no Rail Link station there, there is a depot where the trains are kept.
Once you realise there is no station there, you could be humble and apologise for childishly calling me a knobend but I know you won't. You'll seeth inside and wonder how you could have got it so wrong, after all....you are never ever wrong are you?
Cue the next outburst....

Now Dottie, take it slow and breathe deep.....
see the station at Ramkhamhaeng or NASA as you very correctly idenified it......and the the Terminal at Makkasan.....got it.....yep.....what is in between?
My arse it will be.Quote:
