Most countries have military forces at the ready... For many young men & women, it provides necessary training, education, livelihood, discipline and hope for the future that some might not have had otherwise... I have many friends who are career military and are not sorry for their choice...
As I stated before, the problem is not the military per say, but the way they are used for political, religious & financial gain by nations...
We can only hope for a time when the human race advances to the point where killing each other over a plot of dirt or an ideology is a thing of the past... Therefore rendering military forces obsolete and unnecessary... We ain't there now and most likely will never progress to that point...Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Lets say Nigeria was a world power, just a little one mind you, they have spy drones flying all over the world, they come across a couple of areas of racial hatred, areas where regressed nutters live, they send in a few drones with nice big bombs, sadly one of the missions takes out a normal family at a wedding party, bit like America and Pakistan.... Anyway Nigeria keeps up its campaign against these race haters, slowly killing some of them off, but then the race haters start to regroup, they have weapons, the gun laws are very relaxed there, almost as easy if not as easy to get a gun there as it is in Afghanistan, so Nigeria steps up its campaign, they did try to infiltirate the groups to get inside info, but failed miserably, the Klu Klux Klan does not accept black people, as the bombing by Nigerian spy planes continues over west Virginia some of the Americans get a bit annoyed.......
