Just don't look at the public toilets...

Surabaya deserves a notch or two....

I can't believe people voted for Bangkok, seems there are a lot more whoremongering scumbags than I thought, what say you noodles![]()
There probably is, but Bangkok is way more than seedy little bars catering for cheap lowlife dirt-bag Western sex tourists. Bangkok is truely an amazing city if you get out and about and have a good look around the place.Originally Posted by dirtydog
Quite right noodles, they even have places for the wealthy perverted whoremongers like Eden Club, and don't forget noodles, it is a well known fact that if you want to bonk a man with tits then Bangkok is the place to goOriginally Posted by English Noodles

No Shanghai? That would probably beat or come close anyway..
Ok I voted BKK given the choices. But Beijing and Hong Kong would also be close for city destinations. (I'm trying to think like someone who's never been to any of these places - not those of us who live here and travel to them and already know..)
Bangkok is attractive to those who haven't been here-especially horny men.
if it wasnt for the pussy and the rose tinted glasses you would be bothered about the dirt and grime and bleak archtecture of bangers and think get me the hell ou tof here

I disagree. Bangkok has so many other attractions you didn't mention; the Erawan Monument, Chatuchak Market, Muang Boran just to name a couple and that's not including the myriad of smaller interesting gems that can be found absolutely everywhere.Originally Posted by sabang

Correct. Get out of the ivory towers of Sukhumvit and explore.Originally Posted by English Noodles

Chatuchak is just a big market, hardly an attraction while the Erawan 'monument' is just a tacky idol worshiping corner. I think Muang Boran is not actually in Bangkok but Samut Phrakan, well it was when I went three weeks ago. Lets be honest Bkk does not have many attractions at all, Jim Thompson house is the best, and that was done by a foreigner!

Erawan Monument is a massive structure. You are mistakenly thinking of the Erawan Shrine which a mentally ill man defaced with a hammer, and was then beaten to death by an angry mob, in typical Thai fashion.Originally Posted by crazy dog
Chatuchak is the largest open air market in the World and is an attraction by itself IMO.

Impressive . . . I quite liked Windhoek and Valdiva . . . your opinion?Originally Posted by BobR

Off the top of my head (in addition to the aforementioned) there's the medical curiosity museum, the railway museum, Siam Ocean World, Thai boxing at Ratchadamnoen or Lumphini, Siam Water Park, Dreamland, Vimanmek Palace, Dusit Zoo and the Floating Market.Originally Posted by crazy dog
You could also tender places like Vertigo at the Banyan Tree and Panthip Plaza as borderline attractions.
Bottom line it has more to offer than any of the other cities on the list IMO, and trumps all when it comes to value-for-money, eating out and entertainment.
I think Tud you have hit the nail on the head and with regard to the fact a lot of visitors don't get out and see the real Bangkok.
Testament to this fact is prooven by looking at some of the picture threads put together by Bobcock, amongst other camera savy members who really have brought the beautiful and mystic Bangkok into our homes.
I also like KL, not so much around the city but around the suburbs mainly PJ, Shah Alam and Bangsa Baru.
