^Don't see no beautiful siren types in this picture.
Isn't it illegal for foreigners to do agriculture? Integration is a nice idea and there's plenty of us who'd like to be more accepted, but many laws that prevent it.participating in the growing of rice, tapioca, jute, and sugar cane, mango, guava, sweet tamarind, and pomelo, and supporting some of their wives’ cloth-weaving
The subject of farang husband's contribution in Isaan is an interesting one, it's a shame the article was just nationalistic dribble.
It's been noted that many successful women don't want to get married. And survey's have shown a large % of rural women want farang, but the often make out it's just for the cash.
There's plenty of farang out there don't just pay the bills, but also behave well and take care the kids from the Thai husband who ran off.
I've never read it, but it must be true. In the past the Thais preferred boys also.
Good on them who made an effort to do something constructive. Horribly written article though, as we have come to expect from the Pattaya Rag
Well at least this has finally got me round to posting here.
I take exception to the use of that photo, not because I am in it, but because some VERY good friends are. I care not what is written about me but find the article suggests these guys are stupid sad old losers.
In reality, you could not be more wrong and I have not met a nicer bunch here.
Sure that type of idiot does exist but I think a bit of financial jelousy come into play here cos the older guys are sometimes more wealthy and a lot wiser IMHO.

Fuck me. How's that for a metaphor? What a nasty piece of writing. Most sex workers come from impoverished backgrounds, frequently in the poorer parts of Isarn, whose families eke out a subsistence existence, constantly vulnerable to crop failure, loan sharks and unprincipled and ruthless city developers who come to the rural communities and effectively condemn them to extinction by planting extensive eucalyptus forests, for instance. These eucalyptus plantations (right, that's what you're talking about, is it?) leach all the goodness out of the soil, leaving it acidic, arid and barren and incapable of further crop bearing.
^^^ Well done Dave the Dude for speaking out. That took a lot of guts - on this Forum. There are a lot of Ex-pat good'uns in this LOS who are trying to beat the system by working with the community - and making a lot of friends by doing so. There are also a lot of Thai good'uns who see this quality in the farang and respond. Regretfully, it is others, both Ex-pats and Thai nationals, who cannot and do not, see this good and that make life difficult for both sides.
So do I. It portrays the foreigners as the typical pasty, fat, bald and ugly old men when they are in fact all bronzed adonises with chiselled good looks and testosterone levels of a oiled up 19 year old.Originally Posted by Dave the Dude

Here's to immigrating here in your 20s
I guess this Post is dead, for all has been said, tho' criticisms have not been substantiated. I live outside Bangkok. I dont see many foreigners (non-Thais) but those I do seem aloof - don't even acknowledge my greetings, nods, smiles, even winks!!! I smile at everyone - and can always get a smile back from a Thai - but the dratted foreigner? No way! Some time ago, I was in the village getting my breakfast, when I bumped, literally, into a foreigner, with a young child. "Good morning!" I smiled. No response! "Gutten tag!" I said. No response! "Bon jour!" "Bon Journo!" "Hiya!" "Watcha!" Not a sign of recognition of a fellow foreigner! In fact he looked right through me! Ignorant fellow! Likewise in the nearby shopping mall. Several foreigners walking around, with their Thai partners, and seldom can I get a response out of any of them. The Thais that I know are responsive, polite and VERY FRIENDLY. They come to my home, I go to theirs. I don't speak Thai, they don't speak English - well, maybe a little. But we get on fine. When out in the Malls, I often get a friendly verbal response from a Thai, and strike up a conversation with them. Not so with our Johnnie Foreigner! So chew that over, and let's see what you have to say. It should be interesting!
farang-thai reletionship?
Why does race matter much?
I would think if 2 people are compatible with each other, that's all it matters isn't it?
Because deep down inside for any good long term relationship,... it's the shared common goals, values, beliefs, and outlooks in life, that are bonding the 2 people together.
Same here mate with my little Jan , a primary school teacher with a master degree in science , also owns her own property etc ,, I dont even bother with the fukin twatts stereotypical remarks that are made at work ,, all of whom come from plebs that have never been within 5000 miles of Thailand , yet amazingly they know all about the women there and what their all up to ( apparently )Originally Posted by chitown
