Here's an interesting academic question -- obviously, Thailand allows the marriage of one man, to his two lovely twin wives.

What if this group were to decide to move to, let's say, the united States? Would their marriage be recognized (as the US does not allow polygamist marriages, yet does recognize foreign marriages).

It might now allow registering the marriage in the US, so they might not get any of the dubious married benefits, but would it (or any other western country) recognize the condition?

    This is an interesting conundrum.

They'd just pretend to be Mormons and the girls to be underage. It'd be ok then.

It's doubtful that either the full faith and credit, or principles of comity, would extend to alowing any state to accept a bigamous marriage. For instance, in Oklahoma, the State Supreme Court held that a same sex marriage that was legally obtained in Canada was not recognized as legal in Oklahoma.

If there is no marriage, then there is no marriage to recognize in the US.

Well, there's the answer to it, then -- so I just need to get the proper visa for both of my girlfriends, and as long as we stay 'not married' we can all live together with no legal ramifications?

Sounds like this is the solution, then.

    Thanks.

Off topic, but good luck. The only visa that may work under the circumstances you described (your girlfriends) would be a tourist visa - which is extremely difficult to secure. I managed once for my wife prior to our marriage, and then once after our marriage. It wasn't easy.
