My thoughts exactly. And the leaders of this anti-Taxin oposition - where have they been the last 5 years? Oportunistic scumbags, the lot of them.Originally Posted by NickA

3 parties boycott the general election on 2nd of April and Khun Sonthi annouced the deadline of Toxin is 5th of Mar. He must get out!

Noone wants this shite thing happen and I believe that everyone wants to do like this years ago but just not ready and now it's ready, we are ready to fight.
I'm just a little person who have no much power to fight with Toxin, what I can do is, not voted / vote for him but people just have different thoughts.
A good book for those (foreigners) who know little about Thaksin and are interested in learning more, is a book that came out recently in 2005, called, "Thaksin: The Thaksinization of Thailand."
Thai professors and analysts and a western proff. wrote it and it's very interesting and informative.
It's in bookstores.
I don't really know what's gonna happen. I just hope it will turn out in a better way.Originally Posted by in4zip

GOW - why the hostility?Originally Posted by Goddess of Whatever
People get the kind of government they deserve. Unfortunatley, many people here in Thailand seem all too happy to accept injustice and inequality as long as it doesn't directly affect their own lives.
Where were these demonstrators when Supinya was taken to court? When the TRT government allowed the police to killed more than 3000 people under the pretext that they were drug lords? When the army killed dozens of protesters in their custody in Tak Bai? When Taxin spent billions of government money on his own private Airbus (and numerous other daft projects)? When Jaruwan was removed from office for almost 2 years, thus giving Taxin and his cronies a carte blanche too plunder the country at will? (The Shin Corp sale pales in comparison to the other financial transgressions that have been (and still are) going on around this country.). When the freedom of the press was trampled on again and again in the last 5 years? When laws were changed to benefit those in power?
I could go on and on, but I will just make two points:
1) Most of the guys who are shouting for Taxins departure today were amongst his biggest supporters just a year ago. Why were they not more vocal then? They didn't have the public's interest in mind then, what makes you think they have it now?
2) As long as a large percentage of Thai voters are willing to sell their votes to the highest bidder, and/or to vote for politicians who everyone knows are corrupt, things will not change for the better.
I wish more Thais would listen to their King, rather than the politicians. They are at complete opposite sides of the scale when it comes to personal integrity and compassion for their fellow man.
Until then, the voters will reap what they sow. Som nah na ad infinitum.....
You may not like the sound of it, but the truth hurts sometimes. That in itself doesn't make it any less true.....

what local gossip column have you been reading while abroad..
where do you get your reliable information from?
domestic disagreement? Klongy gimme a break.. in a local house hold of that stature?
His M words carry much more weight, no ..let me rephrase that, carries all the weight
the rest are merily inconsequential wispers, fantasies of detox's wishfull thinking trying to magnify his stature through itv and his propaganda machine, spin doctors etc.. detox really tried hard to show that he was rubbing shoulders with the Royals, but no one, not even the upcountry tangchangwats here believed this bs squarefaced liar for even a sec
is there a love story budding between his mut and one of the nieces of His M? not in a million yrs, and even much more less likely now that squareface is truly fucked and is on his way out
is any of the tiltled offspring gonna be going into the casino business with satellite man in the newly created airport province.. etc etc speculation on speculation, spin on spin
and if by some remote chance all this should come to pass best thing for us to do is to seriously consider relocating since once T-rex and his flunky team of hungry velociraptors have done carving up the local cake here then they'll start carving up the farang sorry arses that are still hanging 'ere
..
It is widely accepted that the money from the sale of Shin corp will be pushed in to casinos, if, or should I say, when they are finally legalised. No prices for guessing who will end up with the concessions.....Originally Posted by in4zip
As for farang life in a future Thailand with Taxin at the helm, I think it would be OK. Although I am no fan of the current government, working here is not much differnt than it was 7 years ago. If anything, it is better.

In the situation like this, it's not the time that you try to blame anyone else but yeah.. you are not Thai and it's not your country.
In fact, everyone loves Pra-Ted-Thai. Everyone wants the best thing to happen in Muang Thai but yes, MONEY can make people blind. We didn't do like this before because we didn't have the leaders which had enough power to tell/educate people.
Khun Sondhi has been trying so hard, I watched his TV program every week and I believe that many people did. Yet, Toxin cut everything, he tried to close people' ears / eyes and this is the begining of this crowd.
I have to thank Khun Sondhi that he can bring other (big) people to join and I hope we will go on and things will get better very soon.

My wife is Thai, my children are Thai, I work for a Thai company and pay taxes in Thailand - I think I have as much a right as anyone else to voice an opinion on the matter.Originally Posted by Goddess of Whatever
And looking for, and correcting, the source of the problems is the only way out. Thailand gets bad politicians because the majority of Thai voters vote for them. Easy to blame the politicians, I go a bit further and blame the voters.
This is hardly rocket science, so I cannot see why are you are getting so worked up about it. Unless you votet for TRT in the last election, that is.....

Now Toxin calls the leaders of militaries for a meeting, he's afraid that something that he doesn't expect would happen.
I think you are damn wrong about this. Please do not just guess around.Originally Posted by Whiteshiva
