Pattaya - Walking Street - tourist beaten to death by Thais

Tourists Beaten Up on Walking Street

Whilst wandering along Walking Street two tourists were seriously beaten up on 20th January.

Pattaya Police were told of the incident and went to the scene at Soi 15 off Walking Street. There they found Mr. Briid Caopug and Mr, Mati Pilie, both aged 41 from Estonia. They were both lying unconscious on the ground outside of a bar being treated by the Sawang Boriboon team. An eye witness told the police that the two men were involved in a fight with about 5 Thai men who apparently worked at nearby bars. Both were taken to the Memorial Hospital for further treatment and an investigation will begin when the two men regain consciousness.

Estonian man dies following attack on Walking Street.

Estonian man dies following attack on Walking Street.

A disturbing incident occurred on Walking Street in the early hours of Sunday Morning which was initially dealt with by the Tourist Police based on the street. Three men from Estonia made a complaint at the Tourist Police Mobile Unit regarding a confrontation with three Thai Men in Soi 15. It is thought the men were being ushered into a Show Bar but decided at the last minute that they did not want to go. The Thai men became angry and a fight ensued. The men were told to make their way to Pattaya Police Station to make a report, however they decided to take matters into their own hands and went back to confront the Thai men. It is thought that more than 15 men set-upon the three Estonian Men. One managed to run away, a second was hit over the head with a steal pole and a third man was stabbed in the leg with a broken bottle. A major artery in his leg was severed and he was rushed to Hospital. Later on Sunday he died from the injury according to medical staff at the Pattaya Memorial Hospital. The incident, which is now a murder investigation, occurred only meters away from the Tourist Police Unit and is now being investigated by Pattaya Police and the Tourist Police as the hunt for the attackers continues. We understand that as of Monday Afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the attack.

Well done Thai tourist police, cos you couldn't be bothered dealing in something so petty as doorman beating up tourists one of them got killed, I wonder what the fok they are being paid to do whilst sitting on Walking Street every night.

And maybe if one of these farang tourist police volunteers had got off their foking ass and taken them to the police station in Soi 9 this wouldn't have happened.

jesus y maria, another appalling incident in pattaya.

my opinion is that certain nationalities the TAT are trying to attract these days, have a greater machismo and less regard and respect for police, so these incidents are going to increase more and more.
In the UK there is now large communities from these countries, in the main they are hard working citizens, but some are less desirable and they have no respect for the english policeforce and live by their own code.

Which brings me unto another point, why does the Uk allow such undesirables in so easily yet my wife will have to jump thru hoops to be allowed for a 10 day holiday and pay a small fortune in thai terms for the pleasure.

    Sorry to be off topic

Dumb idea number 1. Thai men have friends and can rely upon backup from the entire Thai population in a fight with Farangs. I am impressed it took 15 Thais and still one Farang escaped.

Honestly, Thai reporting. It is a stolen pole. Steal is present tense. Get the grammar right.

Because you're white and male and might be enjoying your life. This will not do and must, according to the narrow minded, interfering fckuwits that run the UK, be stopped at all costs.

Jeezuz... Initially I joked about Estonian lager louts and said that they must have done something wrong..

The only thing they probably did wrong was reacting as if they were still at home , not understanding the Thai way of dealing with trouble... Thais gang up in numbers and fight to the death... Tourists do not understand this is how Thais will fight and it is fucking cowardly...

The tourist police were alerted about the incident then presumably saw the Estonians going back towards Soi 15...

Hope they get the whole lot that were involved but there will probably be a lack of witnesses to identify the bastards..

    i) Are tourist police trained or equipped to break up a brawl?

    ii) "cowardly".....perhaps, but effective nonetheless.
Before entering Iraq, the US and UK forces didn't sportingly make sure their forces had identical resources to the enemy in order for the fight to be even.

^ If tourist police are not there to help tourists in trouble then what are they there for?...

Yes.. cowardly and effective at the same time... We don't know the full incident here - the Estonians are probably not totally innocent themselves... You don't get attacked for minding your own business..

Tourists should get taught the 'mai pen rai' attitude..

^The TP might be able to control drunk & disorderly acts, but this sounds as if it were on the verge of a full-blown riot. To break up 20 people they'd need some extra force.

blokes with a few bers inside them and a couple of buddys by their side often feel they can take on the world.

One early afternoon along Beach Road I saw a Thai guy shout and then run across the street to a bg. He punched and then kicked her so hard I felt it 10 ms away. A middle-aged farang with Thai wife ran at him and threw a punch that even stephen hawking could have avoided. You can guess the rest - farang out cold, wife screaming and everyone else including me looking at the sky and whistling. All the time the Thai guys mates were hovering around a few ms away.

Yeah, I saw an altercation yesterday on Patong beach as I was exercising. This was actually between two Thai beach boys, and one of them picked up a steel stake used to anchor umbrellas and came at the other. It took about 3 other Thai guys to get him disarmed.

Thais can be crazy when provoked. Anything can happen, including gang poundings with objects.

We've said it before....'jai yen' is merely a social convention to maintain the peace and prevent chaos.

Beneath that veneer of civility, they're raving maniacs, ........ its all bubbling away beneath the surface.

I agree and it all comes down to their lack of any sort of decent education.

Unfortunately, unlike their brothers the 'running away truck and bus drivers' the Thai GoGo minders won't be regretting their actions but rather buoyed up and ready for the next round!
