On February 12th, 2025, at 11:16 PM, a joint operation led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Chairit Anurit, Commander of Immigration Bureau Division 3, and Pol. Col. Plearn Klinpayom, Deputy Commander of Immigration Bureau Division 3 resulted in the arrest of Mr. Jiyong Ki, 41, a South Korean national.
Mr. Ki was arrested at a room in North Pattaya. He was charged with being an alien who entered and stayed in the Kingdom without permission and was also a suspect under an Interpol arrest warrant for a fraud case involving electronic products from famous brands.
Mr. Ki, a former employee of a world-class electronics brand in Korea, was fired by the company. However, he continued to deceive victims into ordering products through him. After the purchase agreements were made and money was transferred, the products were never delivered. The total damages amounted to approximately 1,155 million won (around 31 million baht). Mr. Ki fled to Thailand to hide.Upon receiving clues, the officers conducted an investigation and arrested Mr. Ki. He admitted to being the person under the Interpol arrest warrant. Further checks revealed that he had also overstayed his 90 days visa limit allowed in the Kingdom. He was arrested and taken to a local police station.
Pol. Col. Naphasaphong Khositsuriyamanee revealed to The Pattaya News that Mr. Ki’s fraudulent activities involved luring victims to buy brand name products. After collecting the payments, he failed to deliver the products, causing substantial financial losses.
