Many locals here are of KMT descent and celebrate all Chinese festivals, enjoy.

I will share some Dim Sum and Plum Wine like Ribena!!

There will be fireworks, banquets and bangers here and in places like Yaowarat, Nakhon Sawan and any place with a Chinese community.

I am all for celebrations though loud fireworks for days may trouble your pets.

For those inclined In 2025, the Heavenly Stem is Yi 乙, representing Wood, while the Earthly Branch is Si 巳, representing Fire, thus establishing the year of Yisi 乙巳. Therefore, individuals born in 2025 may be called 'Wood Snake' or 'Fire Snake' or 'Wood Fire Snake'

Mae Salong will be the place to be! Met several KMT originals up there and it is one of the most interesting places in Northern Thailand with daily mahjong and plenty of Chinese culture! Happy New Year!

wry but unlikley here, the Chinses community here is better off than me and most expats, years of trade, smuggling and "Business' means they have nice rides and delicious food , similarly while there is the odd soi dog that looks like Yogi's done it most of the animals wild and domestic have a pretty nice life . I assume the pigs and chickens don't know their fate as unable to read, one of the major advantages of illiteracy.

I share you disgust at teh mainland commies and some of the bone spitting tourists but most of teh Sino Thaia and Lanna Thais I meet here are bettered mannered tha nthe younger expats or tourists.

Anyway watch out for the old bangers down Loy Kroy , thay Catherine Wheel may go orf in yer hand.

I stay away from Chinatown, it's just a traffic jam interspersed with topknot youtube wankers.

Fireworks popping off here already here in heavily KMT areas, there may be fewer Chinese where you live but you may wish to think of your animals and fireworks!!

I've been ready for it, after New Year and then Ork Phansa I've spent a lot of time with unconsolable dogs. Then last week we had the Nonbualamphu Festival, a week of alleged fun, at least a chance for the young people to get out and experience some excitement. This seems to involve a lot of young lads milling around and occasionally launching volleys of random explosives at each other. A couple of nights back one such celebrant was still holding his grenade when it went off, sadly he'll spend the rest of his life with just one hand.
I guess when I was young my friends and I did similarly daft things, although somehow not quite that daft.
