Two Canadian nationals, identified as major drug dealers, were arrested in Karon after a dramatic chase that started at a police checkpoint in Patong.
According to a report by police, at around 5:10 P.M. on Sunday, January 19th, Karon Police were alerted that a black pickup truck had breached a police checkpoint in Patong and was heading towards Karon. The vehicle was later spotted driving near a supermarket on Patak Road by Karon Temple.
In an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle, Karon Police executed a tactical maneuver, ramming their vehicle into the back of the suspects’ truck, which was then blocked by another vehicle in front, rendering it immobile.
The driver, identified as Mr. Samuel, and his passenger, Mr. Jared, both 34-year-old Canadian nationals, were taken into custody.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and Mr. Jared revealed a significant haul of illicit substances:
100 grams of crystal methamphetamine mixed with cocaine
Six pills of Lorazepam
Four sheets of “drunken papers” (papers laced with crystal methamphetamine)
14 grams of magic mushrooms
88 capsules of cocaine
50 pills of Alprazolam
Police suspect that these drugs were intended for sale at the recent Electric Daisy Carnival , pointing to a significant disruption in local drug distribution networks. Both suspects now face multiple charges related to drug possession and trafficking, with further investigations underway to trace the origins and distribution networks of these narcotics.
