A Turkish tourist in Pattaya was reportedly bound and robbed by three men who fled with his laptop and cryptocurrency.
At 3:36 AM on January 14th, Pattaya police received a report of a tourist being robbed. The incident occurred at a condominium in Soi Wat Boon Kanjanaram in Pattaya. Upon receiving the report, officers and The Pattaya News team rushed to the scene.
At the scene, the victim, an unidentified Turkish tourist, was found visibly shaken. The condominium’s security staff had already assisted him. The victim informed police that three unknown male suspects had abducted him, tied his hands behind his back, and bound his ankles before stealing his belongings, including a laptop and a significant amount of cryptocurrency.
After the robbery, the suspects fled, leaving him tied up in his room. The victim managed to seek help from the security guard by yelling for help and managing to slowly walk downstairs.
The security guard, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, told the police that the tourist had asked him for help while still restrained with handcuffs and cables binding his wrists behind his back, as well as his ankles tied together. The guard added that the suspects had locked the victim in a room on the fifth floor before escaping. The victim eventually made his way downstairs to seek assistance.
Pattaya police are currently questioning the victim. Investigators have been ordered to search the area, collect evidence, and review CCTV footage to identify and arrest the suspects.
Authorities believed the suspects might be close acquaintances of the victim. They reportedly used a spare key to the victim’s room to gain entry. They then coerced the victim into transferring cryptocurrency, which the victim claimed was worth over 10 million baht via a stolen laptop.
