    Bangkok choked by excessive PM2.5 airborne pollution

    The entire area of greater Bangkok is being affected by poor air quality today, with the levels of PM2.5 pollutants exceeding the safe 37.5 micron (µg/m³) level, according to Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA).


    Eleven other central provinces are also reported to have excessive levels of PM2.5:


    · Samut Sakhon, 61.3µg/m³
    · Samut Songkhram, 59.7µg/m³
    · Samut Prakan, 50.7µg/m³
    · Ratchaburi, 48.6µg/m³
    · Phetchaburi, 47.3µg/m³
    · Nonthaburi, 45.6µg/m³
    · Nakhon Sawan, 45.6µg/m³
    · Kanchanaburi, 45.1µg/m³
    · Uthai Thani, 43.6µg/m³
    · Phichit, 42.5µg/m³
    · Chainat, 39.3µg/m³

    In Bangkok, the worst affected districts are Bangkok Yai (78.2µg/m³), Khlong San (76.6µg/m³) and Thon Buri (75.5µg/m³). For the rest of the capital, the air quality is also described as unhealthy:

    · Pathumwan, 65.7µg/m³
    · Chom Thong, 64.9µg/m³
    · Khlong Toei, 64.8µg/m³
    · Phra Khanong, 63.5µg/m³
    · Wang Thong Lang, 63.1µg/m³
    · Wattana, 62.6µg/m³
    · Nong Khaem, 62.0µg/m³

    33 here but parts of c mai over 150 6 hrs ago, is that burning, traffic or no wind do you think?

    Dunno. That’s further south. I’ve not noticed burning around here this year except the old codger behind me lighting his veggie patch.

    Time to break out the Filtrete! Was always shocked how black that material got after just a few days in the AC.

    ^ Not quite there yet but it’s surely coming. When I can look out at the horizon and see the smutz hanging in the air, it’s time to crank up the air purifiers.

    Not too bad in the Cow country estate in N/sawan or at least in the part I'm in, although contracting some dreaded lurgee over Christmas is playing havoc with the lungs.
