    Government Provides Flood Relief Nationwide

The government has announced financial relief for residents affected by flooding between August and December 2024, with up to 9,000 baht allocated per household in 47 provinces and an additional 10,000 baht to assist with debris removal of each flood-ravaged family in the North. More than 2.7 billion baht has already been distributed through the Government Savings Bank, while initial disbursements for southern provinces are scheduled to begin by January 16, 2025. Affected residents can file claims at local government offices or online at flood67.disaster.go.th.

The floods caused significant damage to properties and livelihoods across the northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions. In response, the government established the Flood, Storm, and Landslide Relief Operations Center, coordinated by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). The Minister of Interior oversees recovery efforts, while the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives leads water management and infrastructure restoration. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has instructed all relevant agencies to closely monitor the situation, implement recovery efforts, and provide timely updates to the public.

Relief measures approved by the Cabinet so far include payments of 5,000 baht for households flooded for up to one week and 9,000 baht for those experiencing over 30 days of flooding. Additional funds for mud cleaning and home recovery were allocated on October 9 by the Ministry of Interior, ensuring thorough support for affected residents. On December 3, another 5 billion baht was designated for southern provinces impacted by flooding in November, broadening the scope of assistance.

The government will present its progress and future plans in a live report tomorrow (Dec 12) under the theme “2025 Empowering Thais: A Real Possibility.” The broadcast on NBT2HD and Facebook Live will detail achievements made in its first 90 days in office and reaffirm its commitment to supporting flood-affected communities.

    No mention of businesses sadly.

And no mention of what they're going to stop it happening again next year.

Mae Sai is talking about building a wall, I don't know if Mexico is going to pay for it.

And they're talking about dredging the Ping. I look forward to seeing how they're going to get a dredger up and down the river past all the bridges.
