A huge fire broke out at, what is known among tourists as, the “ghost ship” at the Koh Chang Grand Lagoona Hotel in Trat province around noon today.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, where they found the blaze engulfing the ship near the beach.

Before the fire started, several workers had been welding inside the ship.

The seven-story vessel, located within the hotel premises, has been a popular check-in spot for visitors, due to its numerous ghost stories.

The Koh Chang Grand Lagoona Hotel originally offered the ship, which had around 200 rooms, as accommodation for high-end customers.

Due to an economic crisis, though, the ship ceased operations as accommodation, but remained open as a tourist attraction.
