Airlines operating domestic flights in Thailand have agreed to offer a special 30% discount on air tickets for passengers traveling to key destinations during the upcoming New Year festival.
The special offer was finalized during a meeting in Bangkok this week between Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit and members of the Airlines Association of Thailand (AAT).
The AAT members include Thai Airways International (THAI), Nok Air, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet Air.
Under the agreement, passengers who book round-trip flights directly with the airlines through their official channels on designated routes between December 5 and 7, 2024, for travel between December 26, 2024, and January 5, 2025, will receive the 30% discount.
The designated routes include Bangkok-Chiang Mai, Bangkok-Phuket, Bangkok-Krabi, Bangkok-Hat Yai, Bangkok-Samui Island, Bangkok-Chiang Rai, Bangkok-Udon Thani, Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani, Bangkok-Khon Kaen, and Bangkok-Nan.
This initiative is intended as a New Year gift for travelers and as a measure to alleviate the usual spike in airfares during the holiday season.
Additionally, the airlines have committed to increasing domestic flights to meet the rising demand during the year-end festivities, adding approximately 50,000 extra seats.
All Thai international airports, including those in the North, Northeast, and South, have also been directed to provide the best possible services and facilities to passengers.
