A British man was arrested at the Phuket International Airport for 130 days of overstay.

Phuket Immigration at the airport told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (November 27th) at 3:30 P.M. they arrested the unidentified 37-year-old British man at the international departure terminal in the airport. He was found to have overstayed for 130 days.

The British man was taken to the Sakoo Police Station to face overstay charges. The Phuket Express noted that the Phuket Immigration Office did not release the British man’s name and the British man has not released any statement as of press time.

What a twit. I'm out of touch. If it's say just a week, do they still just fine the overstayer and let him on his flight?

^ Immigration used to let people fly if they paid the fine no matter how long the overstay. Perhaps this particular twit couldn’t come up with his fine.

That’s what I thought also. Perhaps this fellow was being rude?

What a plonker. Stamp his passport for no return and let him go. Easiest for all. Maybe he assumed they'd do that and let him go without a fine. Maybe he got lippy about it. Now he has lost his air ticket and the Thai taxpayer (that's us) is paying for his accommodation.

Next thing you know, a GoFundMe page will appear.

The British Embassy will fly him home at the cost of the British taxpayer (not me) then confiscate his passport until he pays it back.

If he had the 20k he would have got on the flight and been banned for 3 years.

Seems I am paying at both ends. If I see him he deserves a slap.

I seem to recall somtamslap presenting himself at the airport when he finally decided to leave. He paid his overstay and left
That was before they changed the law to include the ban + fine.
