The Flood, Storm, and Landslide Relief Operations Center has issued a weather advisory over an incoming cold spell expected to lower temperatures by up to 5 degrees Celsius across northern and northeastern regions starting November 27.


The temperature drop, driven by a strong air mass from China, is forecast to last until December 2. Residents in these areas are urged to prepare for colder weather and take precautions to protect their health, while central and eastern regions are anticipated to experience a slight temperature decrease during the same period.

In the southern provinces, the center has cautioned residents of heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides between November 27 and 30, with ten provinces expected to face intense downpours. These conditions may result in localized flooding and drainage issues. Authorities have been instructed to refine district-level risk assessments and ensure the deployment of resources, including personnel and equipment, to mitigate potential impacts. Residents in high-risk areas are encouraged to stay updated and contact the center’s hotline for assistance.

During a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, discussions concerned emergency budget allocations for water resource management and flood recovery in northern provinces. Proposals for these measures, submitted by the Royal Irrigation Department, will be presented at the Mobile Cabinet Meeting in Chiang Mai province on November 29.
