On November 8th, 2024, Koh Si Chang police, along with related agencies, conducted a patrol in the waters around Koh Si Chang, Chonburi, and found a cargo vessel transferring a group of workers to a smaller boat.

Upon inspection, local authorities discovered that none of the 72 workers had valid immigration documents or work permits. The group included 38 men, 14 women, and 20 individuals under the age of 18.

Officials reported that these workers had entered Thailand through the Ban Laem border checkpoint in Chanthaburi Province. They then boarded a boat at Charin Pier in Si Racha, Chonburi Province, intending to work illegally in cargo handling near Koh Si Chang.

Following this interception, the authorities are launching an investigation to identify employers and accomplices involved in the illegal transport of these undocumented migrants, with the intent to prosecute under relevant laws.
