At 2:00 AM on November 2nd, 2024, Pattaya police reported that a foreign motorcyclist crashed into a traffic police officer at an alcohol checkpoint in the Jomtien area, severely injuring the officer.
The officer, identified as Pol. Sub-Lt. Rapeepat Prommin, was struck by the foreigner’s big bike, resulting in a severe head injury. Nearby rescue personnel immediately provided first aid and transported him to a local hospital. The police did not reveal the name of the suspect. Following the crash, the foreigner allegedly attempted to evade capture by running into a roadside thicket.
More than 50 officers from Pattaya Police Station were deployed to contain the area. The foreign suspect eventually emerged from the thicket and was found trying to hide in the sea near Jomtien Beach. Police, recognizing him, apprehended him when he returned to shore. He reportedly denied wrongdoing and refused a breathalyzer test at the station. He was described as uncooperative and did not give his name or nationality and continually tried to hide his face from the media.
According to the officers, Pattaya investigators are tracing the motorcycle’s origin, including rental records for evidence, and security footage from the checkpoint has captured the incident clearly for legal proceedings.
