Pattaya authorities arrested 11 homeless individuals, with seven testing positive for drugs, after they were reported to have caused several public disturbances to residents and tourists.
This major arrest was carried out at 10:00 AM on October 30th, led by Mr. Wichak Phetnooch, Senior Community Development Officer. He led a team of 50 people, including officers from Pattaya Police Station, social development officials, police volunteers, and special operations officers from Pattaya City, to survey areas around Pattaya to find homeless individuals.
As a result, 11 homeless people were arrested, but surprisingly, over seven people tested positive for illegal drugs (five men and two women). Some individuals also had drug paraphernalia in their possession.
Reports indicated that these individuals had caused significant disturbances to locals and tourists by occupying abandoned buildings, littering the areas, and hoarding waste collected from the streets.
The arrested individuals were handed over to Pattaya Police Station for further legal action. For those not positive for illegal drugs they will be processed to the Chonburi Center for the Destitute for social assistance and/or transportation back to their home provinces or country if not from Pattaya.
