A transgender woman was caught red-handed for pickpocketing a German tourist in Pattaya, but the victim chose not to press charges after confirming that his money was intact.
The Pattaya Police Station received a report from 33-year-old Mr. Pratin Sangsuward, a motorcycle taxi driver, that he and other Good Samaritans had apprehended an alleged transgender pickpocket at the entrance of Soi Pattaya 10 on Second Road.
The police arrived at the scene to find the victim, identified as 36-year-old German Mr. Philipp, who appeared visibly shaken by the incident. Officers also found the suspect, 38-year-old Thawatchai, at the scene.
According to Mr. Pratin, he saw Thawatchai hugging Mr. Philipp, who was clearly reluctant, while driving his motorcycle past the incident. He then witnessed Thawatchai reaching into Mr. Philipp’s pants pocket.
However, the German tourist realized what was happening and struggled to retrieve his wallet, causing it to fall to the ground. The suspect then fled into Soi Pattaya 10, but Mr. Pratin and other Good Samaritans, who witnessed the incident, chased and detained the suspect.
The suspect initially claimed they did not steal anything, but when the foreign victim arrived and identified them, the suspect confessed that it was allegedly their first time committing this type of act to pay for accommodation.
The foreign victim checked his belongings and discovered that his money, totaling 4,000 baht, was intact. Therefore, he decided not to press charges with the police.
Nonetheless. the police took the suspect to the Pattaya Police Station to record their information.
