Young Australian Tourist Found Dead in Pattaya Hotel Room, Police Suspect Drug Overdo

A young Australian tourist was found dead in a Pattaya hotel room, with drugs and paraphernalia discovered at the scene. Police suspected he may have passed away due to a drug overdose.

At 12:10 AM on October 30th, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a foreigner found dead inside a room on Soi 3. Police officers from Pattaya Police Station and rescue personnel immediately rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 27-year-old Australian man, Mr. Jayson (Last name held pending notification of family and embassy), on the 4th floor of a hotel, the name of which has also been withheld pending investigation. He was lying on his back, shirtless, wearing only black shorts and a waist bag. Although there were no signs of a struggle, police found ketamine, marijuana, and various other drug paraphernalia on a table, which were collected as evidence.

Police also met a heavily intoxicated unidentified friend of the deceased at the scene who was in a confused and frantic state. Rescue workers provided first aid before urgently transporting him to a nearby hospital for treatment for another possible drug overdose.

A hotel employee told police that they heard loud noises from the room and went to check before finding the friend in a panic. He was shouting that his friend wasn’t responding to him and wouldn’t wake up. The employee then called the authorities.

Police collected evidence from the scene and initially suspected that the deceased may have overdosed on ketamine. The friend will be questioned further once he recovers from intoxication to gather more details about the incident and the exact cause of death.

Ketamine is a schedule two illegal drug in Thailand and major legal charges may also be pending for the friend of the victim. Marijuana is decriminalized in Thailand.

Legal Penalities for Possession and Use of Schedule 2 Substances in Thailand:

Imprisonment of 5-20 years and a fine of 100,000-400,000 Baht for production, importation or exportation sale
Imprisonment not exceeding 5 years and a fine not exceeding 100,000 Baht for carrying across borders
Imprisonment of 1-5 years and a fine of 20,000-100,000 Baht for possession, use or consumption

Naaaah.... Its a Pattaya thing, albeit Brits do lead the way in many death categories as in jumpers and drunken fights. Robberies seem to be Indians and gambling is various Asian nationalities.

However many of us have been told this happens all over Thailand with foreigners but its just that there are 3 news agencies that focus on Pattaya.

I wonder if his eulogy will wax lyrical about him dying doing what he loved best?

similar situation to that boy band singer who jumped out of a hotel room in argentina last week. he was full of ketamine too,

ketamine is only for the stupid.

Powdered ketamine is often cut with other drugs, so it’s very hard to tell what the long-term effects will be—interactions can be very unpredictable.

Consequently, the long-term effects are varied, but they fall into several main areas.

As with any anesthetic, ketamine reduces—or even eliminates—pain. It’s hard for users to tell whether they’ve injured themselves, so they can end up hurting themselves severely.

Some people have suffered from broken legs and effectively crippled themselves because they couldn’t tell that something wasn’t right. Walking on a broken leg can result in compound fractures, penetration of the skin, sepsis, and serious nerve damage.

Once the effects of ketamine have worn off, users might experience severe abdominal pain.

It can also cause a thickening of the bladder and urinary tract, and this can force some long-term addicts to have their bladders removed as the walls are too thick and prevent urine from passing through. Other issues include kidney problems, which are caused by the drug’s interaction with the kidneys as it is reduced into its metabolites.

Amphetamines should never be mixed with ketamine because they can cause very high blood pressure.

Nasty stuff Tax, I read up on it as well. Meth and Oxy are a significant issue in the states because they cut it with Fentanyl.

^^Ketamine a.k.a. Pink cocaine. I've only heard about it due to that boy band singer that Taxexile mentioned. I know about One Direction (the boy band) because their songs were quite popular here in PH during the 2010s. My younger friends/ colleagues also liked them because of their looks. (to be fair - they had that cutesy boy band looks but they were too young for me. My boy bands were Backstreet Boys and NSync. Lol)

Re: ketamine, by all accounts it's dangerous. It's also said to dull/ numb pain, so the user might be in pain but doesn't know it because he/ she is high. RIP to the young Aussie guy.

It's an anaesthetic Katie. That's what it's supposed to do.

The pink magic isn't just K. There's other stuff in there too like MDMA and sometimes a bit of Charles himself. It was big in South América when I was there.

Strange, as it is being reported elsewhere that the dead man was indeed a Brit and the other one a convict.
