Krabi Airport Gears Up for 60% Surge in Tourist Arrivals

Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri has announced that Krabi Airport is preparing for a 60% increase in tourist arrivals during the upcoming high season. Starting on October 28, the airport is expected to handle more than 160 domestic flights, over 60 international flights, and around 90 charter flights per week. The surge in passengers is projected to continue through March next year.

In preparation for the influx, the airport is enhancing its services by ensuring sufficient staff at each service point and maintaining all facilities. The introduction of pre-check-in applications, electronic identification via the Thai ID app, and self-service boarding systems will be promoted to make passenger processing more efficient.

To further ease congestion, the number of check-in counters will be increased from 14 to 16, while public transport services will also be improved to provide a smoother travel experience.

Manaporn, during a recent meeting, highlighted Krabi's significance as a key tourist destination and its potential to become a major transport hub in the Andaman region. However, she stressed the need for high-quality services and coordination with national transport policies to boost connectivity and support the local economy.

60% increase in passengers so they add two counters to 14 counters or an increase of 15% capacity…
