Two Thai tourists from Phuket have tragically died while another has survived after a flash flood at a waterfall in Phrom Khiri on Friday (October 11th).

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation from Nakhon Si Thammarat Office Chief, Mr. Sayan Kitmano, told the Phuket Express that at 3:30 P.M. on the day in question they were notified that three Thai tourists were missing after a flash flood at the Wang Lung, aka Song Rak Waterfall on the Khao Luang Mountain Range in Thon Hong. A search was launched by rescue workers, locals, and authorities.

One person was rescued by local teams who was identified only as Ms. Orrawan, 42. She is originally from Phuket. Two other people were tragically found dead. They were identified as Ms. Wilawan, 49, originally from Surat Thani, and Mr. Uppatham, age unknown, originally from Chainat.

They were staffers at the same hotel in Phuket who had visited the waterfall. Local residents told The Phuket Express that the area where they went swimming was not rainy but the top of the mountain had seen rain before the flash flood. The weather was unpredictable there.
