Then I know buddies who raced cars, sky dived, Scuba dived, raced airplanes early on and still do today. Nothing stands out and that was my point to Tax. He doesn't know me and my motorsports history. I built my first go kart at 10 with my brother from an old Briggs Stratton lawnmower motor. Built and raced dirt bikes and on and on up through racing a Chevy S10 in the California to Baja 250 and my racecar in the outlaw class. I suspect he thinks I came here as a foreigner, married some uneducated thai girl have no friends so I randomly took up riding an ATV.

Fair question Armstrong. Most of the riders/owners either own small businesses or work at the shop that sell the ATV/UTV's. Some of course finance them. Its like any hobby or sport really. I have become very good friends with the owner where I bought mine and he is a really nice guy. His shop employs about 6 people and when the outing occurs they all go and the shop closes. Much of that is an opportunity to potentially sell more to new people. As for foreigners, there are a few that go to them. Overall they are fun rides with good people and a lot of fun. I have always owned ATVs in the US and now here. The UTV's are fun but a lot more expensive and you sit all day being slammed around but you have a passenger or friend next to you so there is that.

Patthalung isn't too bad. Pattani gets a bit of an undeserved bad reputation. Petchaburi has its nice parts and the best fried noodles in Thailand. Petchabun and Phitsunalok, I've not been, but I've heard good things.
