A drunk foreign man allegedly attacked a German man and his Thai wife in Pattaya.
At 12:10 AM on August 20th, 2024, Pattaya police received a report of a violent altercation between foreigners at the Gold Bar Beer in Soi 6 on Pattaya Beach Road, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. They immediately rushed to the scene, along with local rescue services.
Upon arrival, authorities found a German man, Mr. Ral Peter Mallon, 60, suffering from a serious head injury. He was with his Thai wife, Ms. Pornwin Ramakul, 27, who sustained a loose tooth. The couple was given first aid before being transported to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
Ms. Kanyarat Wansena, 28, who witnessed the incident, reported that while she and her friends were sitting at the bar, an intoxicated foreigner began harassing them. The man accused them of causing distress to one of their friends, to which Ms. Kanyarat denied.
Despite their attempts to calm him down, the foreigner became aggressive. Ms. Kanyarat’s husband, Mr. Mallon, then tried to intervene but was allegedly punched by the foreigner, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. He sustained a head injury, which required over nine stitches. Doctors reportedly advised that he remain under observation due to concerns about potential brain trauma. The suspect also hit Ms. Kanyarat, resulting in a loose teeth.
The suspect, who refused to provide his identity to the authorities at the scene, identified himself only as “Michael,” 44. While being photographed by the media, the suspect also rose his middle finger in front of the police officers. It was later revealed that he attempted to personally settle the matter by offering compensation for the victims. However, the police are awaiting the victims’ recovery before proceeding with further serious legal actions against the assailant.
