Thread: Chiang Mai pigeon mafia - busted

Always good to read about police focusing on the big issues relating to crime.
From Thairath today, news of eight Pigeon Mafia arrested at Thapae Gate in Chiang Mai

This was a joint operation involving Chiang Mai City Police and Chiang Mai Tourist Police, the offenders were arrested for illegally selling bird food and charging 100 baht for tourists to take photos.

And of course, "Such mafia behavior, in addition to being illegal, also affects the image of Chiang Mai's tourism."

What is illegal, the selling of bird food or feeding pigeons?

If it’s feeding pigeons, I’m calling the cops on my crazy pigeon feeding neighbor!

The arrested 'Pigeon Mafia' have been fined 100 baht each (maximum penalty is a fine of not more than 5,000 baht)

They're not, they stopping the grifters using them for financial gain.

Local vendors complain about the pigeons all the time; of course tourists or grifters feeding them just keeps them coming back.
