Doctor Allegedly Kicked by Foreigner Near Villa at Beach in Thalang, Goes Viral Onlin

A doctor was allegedly kicked and verbally assaulted by a foreign man and his Thai wife near a villa at a beach in Pa Klok.

A female doctor in Phuket filed a report to the Thalang Police with alleged proof in the form of medical documentation of her injuries earlier this week. She told police that she was sitting at night watching the full moon with her friends on the stairs of a villa that is connected to Yamu beach.

A foreign man suddenly came out from the luxury pool villa before allegedly kicking her in the back, she claims. His Thai wife was said to have also verbally assaulted the doctor. She allegedly said her son was in the police and knows many high-ranking police officers in Phuket and if the doctor was shot it would be legal because the victim had allegedly invaded their villa. The couple allegedly said they would file a report to Thai police against the doctor for the night invasion, according to the victim.

The doctor, however, decided to make the story go viral online, believing the threats of the couple to be a bluff and also believing the steps illegally encroached on a public beach.

The story has now gone viral on social media with thousands of comments mostly defending the victim. Mr. D (alias), 45, a Swiss national, and his lawyer met with the Thalang Police. He told police that he did not kick the doctor. He claims he slipped before his foot accidentally hit her back. He said he also recorded a video when he was walking toward the doctor who was sitting at the stairs.

However, the video was not immediately released to the public. However, footage allegedly leaked on social media appears to show the foreigner shouting at the two Thais to “Get the **** off” without any sign of a polite request to leave or conversation. The moment of the alleged kick is unclear, with the camera turned slightly away during that alleged moment.

The Thalang Police are continuing investigations over the issue. The Phuket Land Office is also now allegedly inspecting the villa to see if the stairs are encroaching on the public beach as concern was expressed by thousands of users on social media that the beach is public land.

The full names of the parties involved were withheld by Thai police, who said they are trying to mediate solutions between the two groups. Meanwhile, Thai social media continues to debate the issue, with many Thais enraged over the situation and calling for full legal investigations including against the land deed of the property and even the business owned by the foreigner in Phuket, who is a local ex-pat and not a tourist.

Swiss Expat Charged with Bodily and Mind Harm in Phuket Kicking Incident

A Swiss Expat has been charged with bodily and mind harm after he allegedly kicked a female doctor near his rented villa in Thalang.

On Friday (March 1st) Mr. Urs Beat Fehr (Mr. David), 45, presented himself at the Thalang Police Station after being summoned over the legal situation involving the viral incident.

The Thalang Police Deputy Chief Colonel Anukun Nooket told the Phuket Express that David has been charged with bodily and mind harm. He is being accused of allegedly kicking a female doctor, Tandao Jandam, 26, who is a doctor at a private hospital in Phuket. She had been sitting on the bottom of steps on a public beach leading to his villa when the incident happened.

The steps have since been deemed by Phuket officials public land and encroaching on the beach.

Mr. David had agreed to follow the law process and has been temporarily released on bail without collateral. He has apologized for the incident but also insists he didn’t intend to kick the woman but says he “slipped” while shouting at her to get off what he claimed was his property.

David claimed he had previous trouble with other intruders on his property and used vulgarities and was angry due to fear for his wife’s safety, despite the victim’s being two young Thai women calmly sitting peacefully on the steps watching the beach.

Swiss Expat and Thai Wife in Phuket Apologize for Viral Kicking Incident, But Still Insists He Slipped

A Swiss expat and his Thai wife have apologized to a Thai doctor and the Thai people for a viral kicking incident but the Swiss man still insists he slipped and the kick wasn’t on purpose.

A press conference was held at the Phuket Provincial Hall on Friday (March 1st). Joining in the press conference were the Phuket Vice Governor Mr. Adul Choothong, Mr. David (Swiss national), and his Thai wife.

Mr. Urs Beat Fehr (David), 45, a local foreign businessman who owns an elephant sanctuary said in English at the conference “I love Thailand. I always support Thai people. I am Swiss but Thailand is my home. I did not realize that this incident would turn out to be such a major issue.”

TPN media notes the issue was one of, if not the most, currently trending stories on most Thai news networks, with the vast majority of social media commenters siding with the Thai doctor.

“I still stand by my statement that I did not intend to kick the doctor’s back. It was an accident because I slipped before my leg hit her back. I also have proof that I slipped as my toe was hurt too.” David said and then showed a photo of the injury at the conference.

“I responded angrily to this situation because there were many people who invaded my place before, almost every week. Two weeks ago, about seven Chinese nationals even entered the villa field and pool which is our private area.” David explained.

“So, that previous incident caused me great concern about my wife’s safety. I was very angry that I thought the doctor and her female friend invaded my place like those Chinese.” David added.

“I did not say any racist phases about ‘Local Thais’ as the doctor mentioned.” David also mentioned.

Meanwhile David’s Thai wife said at the conference, “I had already gone to bed when my husband asked me to come out. I had been sound asleep. I thought the two Thais were the same group of Chinese before and I agree that I said many words that were impolite to the doctor. I also lost control of my temper.”

“I did not know that she is a doctor. If I knew that she was a Thai doctor, I would have asked her to go into our villa to have some drinks.’ The wife added.

The couple also mentioned at the end of the press conference that they are very sorry for what they have done to the doctor and to the Thai people. The couple said they are willing to do anything to apologize for the situation.

Meanwhile, the doctor and her father from Nakhon Si Thammarat were in Bangkok interviewing with a Thai media channel and insisting on further legal action, but it remained to be seen if both sides would mediate with the assistance of Phuket officials.

Phuket officials have ordered the majority of the stairs involved in the incident to be removed as they state they illegally encroached on the beach.

Yes. The kick wasn't much but he was kicking a young woman sitting with her back to him. Contemptible.

The swiss are generally an obnoxious and unfriendly lot, and this yobs actions, reeking of entitlement and privilege, come as no surprise. The comments made by his equally stupid Thai wife about the doctor are just the usual obsequious and sickening Thai grovel when they attempt an apology.

That Phuket officials, the ones who happily signed off the plans for the villa are now looking into whether there is any encroachment also comes as no surprise.

All in all, a non event highlighting the stupidity of the small minded and magnified out of all proportion by our obsession with the fucking internet.

PS. and what on earth is "mind harm"?

    Could be a long thread.

This actually happened two days ago.

Outraged netizens with too much spare time seem to play a role.

It's telling that the victim being a doctor seems to mean so much to many Thais.

It's a lot of fuss over next to nothing.

Surely with your background in comparative linguistics you can work it out?

You should probably be pilloried for even mentioning it.

Appears his days may be numbered . . .

    Bangkok Post 4 March 2024 15.46

A Swiss man has denied kicking a woman doctor watching the moon on beach steps near his rented Phuket villa, and the case will now go to court, according to a Phuket deputy governor. Adul Chuthong said on Monday the suspect denied the charge of assault, and prosecutors in Thalang district would take the case to Phuket Provincial Court for judgement. Deputy governor Adul said that Mr Fehr had a business visa and a registered elephant foundation, and provincial officials were checking on their legal standing.
His visa was valid until March 13. The man could then remain on a suspect's visa, pending prosecution. Any subsequent visa application could be considered, Mr Adul said.

He's fooked for the next few years. Suspect's visas suck balls. You have to get a note from the court saying your case is ongoing. That gets you a 60 day visa, which you can extend for another 30 days. Rinse and repeat for the next several years as a simple case will take at least 1-1/2 years.

It wasn't nice or polite behaviour, but a huge response. If every such incident in the country got such a response then the police and courts would be quickly overwhelmed.

Is something serious/corrupt/dodgy happening off to the side in Thai politics for this to be given so much airspace?

Look a bit deeper betty. The contempt he showed in the video. His wife's language and threats she knew police. His prior run in with an ambulance. Much more, it pissed people off, sure it was fueled by social media. But welcome to the real world Mr. Big Shot seems to be what happened.

Yes, he was an ass. Why not politely ask the 2 women to leave? They weren't noisy or making trouble. Also, why did he take a vid of it? SMH.

The vid shown by Misskit didn't show the Thai wife shouting - vid was cut, I guess.
