The Cabinet has decided today (Monday) to reduce further the electricity rate, to 3.99 baht per unit. This follows last week’s decision to reduce the rate from 4.45 to 4.10 baht/unit.
The new rate will become effective in September’s billing cycle. The cabinet did not reveal about the duration of the cut.
Government spokesman Chai Watcharong said that, after the first price cut last week, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin assigned Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga to consider whether further price reductions would be possible, resulting in the cabinet’s decision today.
