Farmers Urged to Limit Rice Crop Due to Less Rainfall

The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has urged farmers to cultivate only one rice crop this season due to anticipated below-average rainfall caused by the El Ni?o weather pattern.

ONWR Secretary-General Surasee Kittimonthon revealed that the rainy season, typically commencing in the third week of May, would experience a delayed start this year, with intermittent rain expected in June. He added that the ONWR has devised a water management plan for the country’s dams to ensure water preservation. The success of the plan depends on close collaboration among all stakeholders, particularly farmers, in conserving water resources.

Surasee emphasized that water would be provided to farmers during the first rice crop in the upcoming rainy season. However, he urged farmers to cooperate by growing alternative crops that require less water for the second and third crops, in order to mitigate water scarcity.

The ONWR held discussions on May 11 regarding water management for the upcoming rainy season with several agencies, including the Royal Irrigation Department, the Meteorological Department, the Department of Water Resources, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

Due to the El Ni?o phenomenon, Surasee stated that rainfall would be approximately 5% below the average. However, he noted that heavy rainfall was anticipated from August to September, covering 60-80% of the country. He further predicted the occurrence of at least two tropical storms between August and September, which could replenish water levels in certain dams.

I’m pretty sure most farmers are not willingly going to cut their income into 1/3

They won't. As long as there is water near their crop, they will pump it dry to irrigate crop.

At one time the farmer behind my house would grow potatoes during drier weather. Must have been too much trouble or didn’t make enough money from it. Now he grows rice year around.

Potatoes dont like heat, hard to grow here - try every year with limited success, getting ~100 days of cool weather has its challenges...

How does the Office of National Water Resources (ONWR) "know" there won't be enough rain? Can they see the future? Time will tell if this is just another Great Reset, New World Order scam to limit food production because of 'greenhouse gasses' and cow farts. "We've got to cut the water to you poor Thai farmers because of the rice farts". I believe Thailand has fully signed on to the United Nations phony sustainable development goals b*llsh#t which just as well should be titled United Nations Cull the Herd Goals. Think Holland and the farmers who are having their land idled if not confiscated because of the alleged problems with greenhouse gasses. Think of the many, many suspicious fires at USA food production plants, millions of eggs destroyed, chickens killed and train derailments of toxic materials requiring 'evacuation' of prime farm land.

Sadly, the things mentioned above are probably only just the beginning of what is in store for us 'useless eaters', now that the ruling psychos are watching closely as our replacements--robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI)--are coming on board.
