Belgian and French Men Plunge from Same Pattaya Condo in Separate Incidents and Pass

A 52-year-old Belgian man and an 81-year-old French man died by suicide by plunging from a condominium in Pattaya. The two separate accidents coincidentally happened at the same condo.

Pattaya Police and Sawang Boriboon rescuers rushed to a luxury condominium in Pattaya at 04:30 AM today, April 20th, after receiving a report that a foreigner had jumped from the condo.

At the scene, the authorities discovered the victim, identified for his family’s privacy only as Mr. Kris, 52, lying unresponsive on the condo’s ground floor. The victim of Belgian nationality suffered serious bodily injuries and was pronounced dead at the site. His body was transferred to the Police Hospital for an autopsy.

Police examined the incident scene and found that the victim had fallen through the roof of the condo’s parking lot. The officers then interviewed Mr. Sombat Sarasamrong, a Thai 55-year-old security guard who works for the condo and witnessed the incident.

He said the victim attempted to take his own life twice by jumping from the second floor of the condo. He first hit the ground without sustaining any injuries, and then jumped from the condo again, running away from Mr. Sombat who tried to help, and ultimately succeeded in ending his life.

The man’s caretaker Ms. Chananchida Changwatdee, 45, disclosed to police that the victim had many congenital diseases and had been threatening to take his life for some time.

The authorities believed that the victim took his own life as there were no signs of struggle or fighting at the scene.

In a similar case, an 81-year-old French man jumped from the same condo in Pattaya at a different time and passed away.

The victim, Mr. Perrin, was found dead beside the condominium also by Mr. Sombat Sarasamrong, the same Thai 55-year-old security guard who found Mr. Kris.

He was shirtless and wore only black shorts. The victim suffered many fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Sawang Boriboon rescuers.

Pattaya Police responded to the incident and searched the victim’s room on the third floor and found his medicines on the table. The victim had many congenital diseases and just went to a hospital yesterday, according to his caretaker Mrs. Donruedee Fletuch, 46.

Mr. Sombat, the security guard, told police that condo residents reported to him that the victim had plunged from the eighth floor and hit the ground behind the condo.

The victim’s body was transferred to Police Hospital for an autopsy.

From Thairath according to Sombat, the Belgian jumped from his balcony and went through the roof of the garage and hit a parked car, but he was not seriously injured. He was in a state of frustration and anger, kicked the broken glass and ran up the fire escape and jumped down again from the balcony of the 2nd floor fire escape, the body slammed into the edge of the roof downstairs, shattering it, before falling to the ground.
    .
Wonder if his assets will cover building and car repairs? No time to leave a polite 'sorry I hit your car' note under the windscreen wiper.

Looking at the state of that building it must have been a depressing place to live anyway.

Houellebecq in his novel, Atomised, said Pattaya is a place where there are no illusions left. Personally, I think most of Thailand probably fits such a conclusion but the deluded will probably argue otherwise as they continue to exist within their little bubbles of contrived reality. The thing is, there are those who cannot stomach life when their wee bubbles are pricked and self termination is the only solution as they confront their own frailty.
Life has no purpose other than procreation, and all our endeavours are simply practices filling the void of our allotted span as we stumble onwards to our oblivion.
Nothing matters very much and very little matters at all.Thailand’s saving grace is its constant reminder of this and that humanity is simply animal evolution.

A few distractions from our esteemed members doesn't belye the fact that for many, Pattaya for good or bad is often the last station on life's railway for many trying to seek meaning in their lives, and many finding none, with a combination of dwindling funds, advancing age, loneliness and ill health gradually degrading their lives even further, they see little reason to justify the prolongation of an existence that they have come to believe is pointless.
    RIP weary souls.

disclosed to police that the victim had many congenital diseases and had been threatening to take his life for some time

The victim had many congenital diseases and just went to a hospital yesterday.
no doubt after been given a terminal diagnosis, either terminal to his existence or terminal to his bank balance, the old geezer decided a quick exit was preferable to the slow death many lonely old farangs suffer in thailand marinating in their own steamy incontinence on soiled bedsheets in run down apartment blocks. a week later somebody complains about the stench and the boriboon guys and pattaya news are round with their cameras and the poor fellows belongings, curtains and furniture are all being laughed at on the forums.

life is good when you can walk and talk, smile and laugh and enjoy the food the nightlife and the company of like minded expats and friendly locals.

but these idiots burn bridges to their homeland without a second thought, cutting themselves off from the benefits and the humanity that most western societies offer to their sick and aged citizens which leaves them at the mercy of thailands uncaring social system or the grasping private system that puts those unable to pay and especially foreigners unable to pay, firmly at the back of the queue and bottom of the heap.

ive seen it many times here , old and not so old geezers whose health deteriorates year by year, their finances shattered by exchange rates and price increases, their thai wives and isaan playmates long gone and who have neglected to maintain a connection with their homelands or to build up a fund to pay the doctors eventually ending up being left unattended to die alone.

laugh and insult all you want at those who highlight and criticise the selfishness, superficiality and cruelty of life in thailand, but ive seen foreigners with houses bigger than stumpys ponderosa pile and with supposedly wonderful families end up with very little and reliant on the dubious mercy of the system here as they end their days in pain, misery and squalor.

    me neither.

He said the victim attempted to take his own life twice by jumping from the second floor of the condo. He first hit the ground without sustaining any injuries, and then jumped from the condo again,
... and who would attempt a suicide jump from the 2nd floor and hope for a result?

Definitely a sad way to end up. I wouldn't want to end up alone, sick and out of funds in Pattaya.

I remember seeing guys sitting in those sad old little condos from my hotel window. The party was long over for them.
