Thread: Mae Hong Son records the highest PM2.5 level on Monday morning

PM2.5 dust levels in the atmosphere in Bangkok and 24 other provinces, mostly in the north, exceeds Thailand’s 50-micron safety level this morning, with Mae Hong Son province recording the highest level at 224 microns, according to the Pollution Control Department.


In Bangkok, however, PM2.5 was measured at 28-55 microns, with only one area reporting an excessive level of the fine dust.


In the north, the levels of PM2.5 range from 58-224 microns. The provinces include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Mae Hong Son, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit and Phetchabun.


PM2.5 levels in the northeast range from 28-64 microns this morning. Only Nong Khai, Loei, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima and Buri Ram reported excessive levels.


Excessive PM2.5, measured 29-58 microns, was detected in Prachin Buri and Sa Kaeo provinces in the east.


PM2.5 levels, ranging from 28-64 microns, were measured in five areas of the central region and in western provinces, including Uthai Thani, Sing Buri, Lop Buri, Saraburi and Ang Thong.


Only in southern provinces is the air quality is regarded as safe, with PM2.5 levels being measured at 15-37 microns.


According to the Pollution Control Department, air quality in Bangkok and its suburbs is likely to improve this Thursday, due to a strengthening westerly wind, but people should be prepared for the impacts of dust blowing in from other areas today (Monday) and tomorrow.


The air quality in 17 northern provinces is likely to deteriorate from tomorrow until Thursday.
