Australian Woman Runs Over and Kills Street Painter in Pattaya

An Australian driver accidentally ran over a street painter on the job and killed him in Pattaya, yesterday, January 11th.

Australian Woman Runs Over and Kills Street Painter in Pattaya-168436-696x392-jpg

The foreign driver was terrified and shocked after being notified that she had fatally run over the victim, Mr. Prasit Kabphet, who was painting the road at the entrance of Wongamat Residence Condominium in Soi 16 in the Naklua subdistrict, Banglamung district, Chonburi.

CCTV footage discovered that the 62-year-old Australian, Mrs. Michelle Ann Eddy, seemed to be totally unaware of Mr. Prasit when she turned her vehicle around the corner to enter her condo’s front gate where the 45-year-old victim was working painting. The driver then ran over the victim and kept driving to her parking lot where someone rushed to tell her that she had run over a man.

CCTV also found that Mr. Prasit was working with his back toward the main road and seemed to not realize about the Australian woman’s car emerging from the corner and approaching him from behind.

The victim’s colleague, Mr. Somphan Sangsuwan, 32, told The Pattaya News the victim was painting the road leading to the foreigner’s condo at 2:50 PM. Mr. Somphan went to the bathroom only to come back to see his friend crying in agony.

Due to his severe injuries, the man quickly passed away, said Sawang Boriboon rescuers.

Mrs. Eddy was taken to the Pattaya police station where she admitted to causing the accident. She said she did not see the victim working on the road and was shocked when she realized that the man had died. She is proceeding with legal procedures and described as cooperative, exact charges being processed were not released by Pattaya police.

The body of Mr. Prasit remains at Banglamung Hospital as of press time.

    Somewhat unclear

He was painting on the road.

Without any warning signs to drivers, no fencing, but a workmate to wave at traffic ?

    Workmate went to the toilet

    Could that be it ?

Not even a twig on the road to warn drivers?

The only people facing charges should be the pancake's superiors, of course.

    That said.

She possibly thought it was a Thai speedbump.

The same as speedbumps in the west.

    Just without any signage.

    Or paint.

    Or any warning whatsoever.

And built at around the same height and angle as a man sitting in the middle of the road.

At that age, she's lucky to remember where she, or her afternoon Sausage-Sandwich lives.

    Yeah, leave out the ageism.

Norton is a safe driver, he has one of those blokes walking in front of his car with a flag.

Well, I read the title completely wrong. I thought she'd run over to the street painter and then killed him.

Anyway, if you are going to crouch in the middle of a junction, then you can expect to get run over.

Clearly, the old biddy is either entering dementia or sight impaired but the situation was not helped by the total absence of any cautionary traffic bollards.

Still, it is perplexing how she managed to run him over - I know this entrance, a friend used to live here, it is not one that you can drive into with any degree of abandon. Distracted by a mobile phone conversation as mentioned above must be a certainty. Compensation of several hundred thousands is the very least of her worries.
