Air passengers advised to allow more time for their travel to airports

Passengers intending to take domestic or international flights out of Bangkok are being advised to allow 3 hours before boarding time for travel to Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang airports.

The advice was separately issued by Thai Airways International, Thai Smile, Thai Air Asia, Thai Air Asia X, Nok Air and Thai Lion Air.

The advice applies from today (Tuesday) until November 20th, one day after the end of the APEC Summit in Bangkok.

The airlines explained that, due to the closure of several roads in Bangkok as part of the security arrangements for APEC leaders, traffic flow in the capital is affected and this may lengthen journeys from hotels to the two airports.

I arrived at Swampy at 1.10 am on the 16th. There wasn't a single person in the Immigration queue. Awesome.

Around 5 to 5.30 am I went to check in for a Thai Smile domestic flight. The wxnkers had only 2 desks open for economy flights and there was already quite a queue. I spent about 45 minutes in the queue even at that early hour.
