That is good to hear! I can't imagine showing up to the child care center and your child is dead.
If this guy didn't shoot himself, would he even be penalized harsh because of this? I've heard of a lot of criminals getting off lightly with many things there or turning a blind eye.

Wow, that is a bit shocking to me! Sad! How big is Thailand in size compared to the US..that's saying a lot.

Utterly devastated.
Aw, sorry to hear that. Must be devastating to the community and all involved.

Those figures said 'per 100,000 persons' so it's in comparison and not population/land mass related.

Either way it's shocking but not really surprising.

I've had a gun pointed at me twice in Thailand, once by a cop and one which was most likely a flare gun.

I've seen plenty shootings in local clubs in the area too and we hear of plenty more.

There's been political shootings too, including the Mayor.

I've had many armed people in my bars over the years but never drawn. Usually drunk old Thai guys who can speak enough English to want to come in and show it. They usually assume the staff are for takeaway and act like right dicks. I sit close to them, keep them amused and keep a very close eye on them.

    Guns everywhere.

If there is any comfort it is that it could have been much worse.

Ms Panchum said there were usually more than 90 children at the school, but just over 20 were present on Thursday due to bad weather and a school bus breakdown.
I read last night that he was known to be violent, known to be a drug addict, and had previously assaulted a police officer and shot someone's dog - which was "solved by mediation".

    The police version is:

“He might have been stressed and under the influence of narcotics and consequently committed this tragic act,” Pol Gen Damrongsak said.
    Added:

Mass shooting Nong Bua Lamphu Province-untitled-jpg

And possibly the most sensible thing I have seen from a Thai MP:

“Failure to effectively address mental issues in police and military ranks has put all Thai citizens at risk from individuals entrusted with firearms,” Mr Wiroj wrote.

    Nice gesture - Royal Patronage

I believe sometime today English news will show that the King and Queen will take care of all the associated costs related to the victims of the massacre.

A nice gesture, to be sure. The thing is that there are many victims in a case like this and some effects come much later. In the West, the majority of couples who lose a young child ultimately divorce. Extended families and people living nearby can all suffer problems in the future. In the years ahead there will probably be suicides that we never hear about. Heaven forbid that this case inspires any copycats.
There is a real need to improve the services available to address mental health issues in Thailand. It needs a bit more than a gesture.

Weeping, grief-stricken families gathered Friday outside a Thai nursery where an ex-policeman murdered nearly two dozen children in one of the kingdom's worst mass killings.

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha will later visit survivors of the attack that left at least 37 people dead, including the attacker's wife and child.

This shit makes me mad. They're supposed to be responding, not taking fucking pictures. C U N T S!

Photos taken by first responders showed the school's floor littered with the tiny bodies of children still on their blankets, where they had been taking an afternoon nap. The images showed slashes to their faces and gunshots to their heads and pools of blood.

So of course they have to red carpet the crime scene.

There was a helicopter passed overhead here about 0830 this morning, heading in that general direction. An unusual occurrence so maybe an advance party.

I don't think the crime scene is going to tell them much that they don't already know tbh.

    The "manhunt" is long over.

Would be a nice start, but until then the government should consider this in the meantime.

^If he just sat behind a desk, it would look bad.

Hell, the three finger groups were blaming Prayut for it yesterday (social media) just after the massacre hit the Thai news.

Much better than the red carpet being prepared across the muddy grass by white uniformed minions.

    .
But he didn’t “slip through the system”, did he.

The fucking piece of degenerate shit was tolerated by two police districts for most of his worthless career and his delinquency was a matter of public knowledge. That the repellent cvunt was permitted to wander at will about the community armed with his handgun is yet again more evidence of the hapless carelessness and dereliction of duty by the authorities and incompetent police.

Thai police are universally feared, not by criminals, but by the community they are meant to serve not least because they answer to no one except themselves.

Have folk truly forgotten how Thaksin’s police killed over 2500 in their bogus war on drugs?

Ah yes. Really no need for the VIP treatment, but I guess all the provinces have protocols to follow.

The red carpet is of course nauseating but then, that’s Thai society.
