Flash flood warning due to isolated heavy to very heavy rain in most parts of the cou

The Thai Meteorological Department warned of isolated heavy to very heavy rain and its accumulation that may cause flash floods throughout this week, from September 11th to the 17th.

In general, the moderate southwest monsoon would prevail over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand during the 11th and the 13th. Therefore, isolated heavy to very heavy rains are possible at the beginning of the week while continuous rainfalls are expected in the North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the South from the 14th to the 17th.

In northern Thailand, isolated very heavy rains are likely from the 11th to the 12th, and scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rains are forecasted for the rest of the week. The minimum temperature is 21-25 °C and the maximum is 28-34 °C.

In the northeastern part, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rains are expected throughout the period with a minimum temperature of 20-26 °C and a maximum temperature of 28-36°C.

In the central part, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are predicted during the 12th – the13th and scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rains are likely until the 17th. The minimum temperature is 22-27 °C and the maximum is 31-37 °C.

In Bangkok and its vicinity, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are forecasted throughout the period with a minimum temperature of 24-28 °C and a maximum of 30-36 °C.

In Eastern Thailand, including Chonburi, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are forecasted throughout the period. From the 11th to the 13th, wave height could reach about 1 meter and above 1 meter in thundershowers. And from the 14th to the 17th, it could reach about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers.

On the east coast of Southern Thailand, isolated to scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are expected during the 12th – the 13th and wave height is about 1 meter and above 1 meter in thundershowers. Scattered thundershowers with isolated heavy rains are expected until the 17th and wave height is about 1-2 meters and about 2 meters in thundershowers.

On the west coast, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are forecasted between the 11th and the 13th and wave height is about 1 meter and above 1 meter in thundershowers. During the 14th – the 17th, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rains are forecasted.

In provinces from Phangnga upward, wave height is about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers while about 1 – 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers are expected in provinces from Phuket downward.

The Department warns people nationwide to beware of heavy rains and their accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off during thundershowers from the 14th to the 17th.

We seemed to have missed most of the rain where we are; so much so that we were on the verge of pumping water into the paddies from the pond. However, a nice set of storms over the past couple of days has helped.

Flew from bangers to Roiet Friday. A lot more flooded areas than green along the way.

The last few days have been between sideways-on belting rain and a steady drizzle, with little break.
I was in Mae Sa yesterday and there is lots of dirty brown water cascading down the mountain everywhere.
Nimman was ankle deep and the sois ground to a halt the other night after only a couple of hours of heavy rain.
It was quite fun paddling through it between bars and dispensaries.

Should enjoy it while it lasts really, it's already getting hot as baws when it's not raining.

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

I’ve decided I will just be rained in and spend the day eating gummies and binge watching Yellowstone.

So much rain here recently. On the morning walk I saw some paddies overflowing and one farmer out fixing his 'ka na', the paddy field wall. Is there a single English word for those?
Crabs sidling about on the lane. They'll be in the pot if the locals spot them.
Some respite from the rain this morning and I took the opportunity to hack down some more buffalo grass. Now, lunchtime, it is too hot for me to work outside.
Bright sunshine all morning, which has been a surprise because half the sky is covered in large and threatening clouds. It could all change quickly.

Two hours on and the heavens have opened. It is so heavy that after just five minutes I am now the proud owner of my own Isan Pond, until recently known as the lawn.

On the plus side, I'm not going to have to get that lawnmower out today.

There is one in my outside shed. Scuttles into hiding when I go in there. Too fast for me. Nasty little critters.

It's coming true. After a bright morning yesterday there was an absolute deluge in the afternoon. Only a couple hours, enough water to have put some nearby paddies under water this morning. This area is a vast flat plain, it takes time for the water to flow away. The last rice planted, the youngest and shortest, is completely under water today. The farmers don't need any more rain, an uncertain sky suggests there could be more.

^...and yet, overall, it has been a pretty dry monsoon season for us. Our pond is still a metre below the top when it is normally overflowing by this time of year. The two weeks prior to these storms were awful, very hot and close, looked like it would rain every day but none came. This rain has been quite a relief and the paddies are looking a lot better than they were.

It seems to vary a lot even across Isan. I think it was AirportTwo who hadn't seen as much rain although he is probably only about 30km East of here. Meanwhile we have had more rain than I remember up here. Everything has gradually filled up, we don't need any more rain for a while.

I gotta say, This is the most rain I have experienced up here in Lampang since I moved here and prior to building our house. The amount that falls sometimes is amazing to just sit and watch. Of course my yard floods but I now have a few things to do to coordinate the run off better. The only real concern I have is even though we have well established mature trees, the ground is like a saturated sponge. The rain doesn't worry me as much but sometimes the rogue high wind that proceed the rain can easily blow them over. I have added supports to most as a precaution.

I am currently in Chonburi and it has been pouring in the Ban Bung area all day which always makes for a fun ride back to the city.

Got me in the big rain last Thursday in Prathum Thani. Hit a submerged log and broke the mud/splash guard that protects your engine under the car. Seems its common as the repair shops are full now. Toyota for some reason says they dont repair that part. But Thai car insurance covers it.
