Two-year-old child brutally attacked by dog in South Pattaya, has over 200 stitches

A two-year-old child out for a walk with his nanny and older brother was brutally attacked by a large, unleashed, and unsecured house dog in South Pattaya earlier this week.

The footage of the attack, taken on CCTV, went viral on social media and has caused Pattaya residents to ask for action around the incident.

The incident took place in a village in South Pattaya on Monday, June 20th, 2022, at 4:00 P.M. The incident came to the attention of the press the day after, yesterday, June 21st, after CCTV of the vicious attack was shared on social media and local Pattaya News reporters spoke with parties involved.

According to two witnesses seen in the photos above, only identified as Father Somkiat, 67, and Jet, 39, the incident was sparked when the nanny of the two foreign boys, 4 and 2, walked the boys past an open gate of a village home. CCTV show the older four-year-old boy pausing, reportedly as a large black dog began barking at the nanny and the two boys from inside the premises of the home. The gate to the home had reportedly been left open by accident after the trash had been taken out.

Shortly after, the dog appears to charge at the boys based on CCTV footage and the nanny and focused on the youngest boy. It took nearly four minutes for the nanny, a maid, and several witnesses who stopped to help, including Father Somkiat and Jet, to detach the dog from his vicious and unsolicited attack on the boy.

The boy, whose identity is being withheld for his privacy, suffered a broken jaw, head wounds, and a severe cheek wound. According to doctors at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital the boy required 200 stitches and treatment in the ICU but is now considered stable and expected to recover.

After the video went viral on social media many Pattaya residents have been asking what will happen to the reported owners of the dog and the dog itself. Reporters who visited the home where the dog emerged to attack the child found nobody home yesterday afternoon and no sign of a dog.

The parents of the injured child, whose names have also been withheld, filed a report at the Pattaya Police Station and are reportedly pressing charges against the owner of the dog for not properly leashing and securing their pet.

Pattaya Police told local media they are looking into the incident. The incident has also drawn furious discussion on Thai social media about loose dogs in general in Pattaya, both house dogs and stray dogs, with many diverse and varied opinions on how to resolve issues.

That’s savage. Hope the kid recovers, but no doubt both will be traumatised for a long time if not ever.

That is awful- the owners should be taken to the cleaners and the dogs destroyed. Also, what might be contained in that house if such vicious guard dogs are deployed? curious minds want to know.

UPDATE: Pattaya police to possibly press charges on dog owner for dog’s brutal attack on two-year-old boy

Pattaya police are preparing to possibly press charges on a dog owner over the dog’s attack on a two-year-old boy. After enduring 200 stitches, the boy has been discharged from an ICU at a local hospital, is safe, and is in close observation by physicians.

The Chief of the Pattaya Police Station, Kunlachart Kunlachai, provided an update on the heartbreaking story of a two-year-old boy who was brutally bitten by a home dog on Monday, June 20th, 2022.

According to the Chief, the injured boy is the son of a French father and a Chinese mother. They are relieved that their two-year-old boy is no longer in the ICU and is receiving close attention from doctors at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. The names of the victim and family have been withheld by TPN media and Pattaya Police for their privacy.

Regarding the dog, the Police Chief revealed it is a Rottweiler, although there are still disputed reports on this about it possibly being a pitbull, breed belonging to a owner and her partner (name still withheld by law enforcement pending further investigation). The owner reportedly conceded to not properly leashing his pet and closing his house gate, which resulted in the horrific incident. It is unclear if any action will be taken against the canine, who supposedly has two prior biting incidents, and questions addressing this were not immediately clarified.

Officer Kunlachart stated that the owner may face a fine of up to 10,000 baht and one-month imprisonment. However, no charges have been filed as of press time other than multiple police reports, but Pattaya Police will reportedly summon both parties to meet together to determine the optimal solution.

Finally, the chief warned dog owners who are caring for potentially dangerous and emotionally unpredictable dogs to leash their pets and close their premises, especially on a steamy day. The dogs can become too stressed and charge at whoever approaches its territory, the officer stated.

A typical incoherent and ineffectual response from stupid Thai who prize a fucking animal's life over people.

In a sensible, rational and caring society the mutt would have been destroyed and the owner arrested and charged by now.

But........ just another day among dumb and dumber.

July 2019 Ms P was bitten by a dog while she was out cycling, resulting in hospital treatment for the two bites plus a course of rabies vaccinations.
Owners of course denied ownership, as to be expected, as this was just a dog they fed that lived around their property.
I didn't want to be involved in any dispute, and her insurance covered the medical fees.
Weeks later I was told the dog had 'gone away' courtesy of her colleague who arranged someone to collect it.
I'd like to think it ended up under one of their roads or in a bridge support, mafia-style.

Didn't have to read much further past the headline to know/learn that the offending canine was of the American Pitbull stock.

And of course the waters around Samui, Phuket, Hua Hin, Koh Chang, Koh Samet, and the entire coastal area abutting the Golf of Thailand are all sewage free.

You really are a spastic twat, 'Arry.

Hardly, it's the imagined superiority others assume simply because their carcass reposes elsewhere that I find annoying, as if anywhere elsewhere in Thailand is not afflicted by Thai incompetence, stupidity and feckless indolence. Their, and your, stupidity is offensive.

come on now s.a. dont be so reticent.

we all know that pattaya is the role model, the go to reference point, the city par excellence, admired by the rest of the country, and indeed worldwide when those typical examples of both thai and foreign meathead behavioural traits that we all know and love are required.

the drunken yobs, the rancid ladyboys, the corrupt cops, the sleazy taxi drivers, the mincing queens, the grasping whores, the bobbing turds and last but not least, the cuckolded chickenhead. its dantes inferno writ for the 21st century.

Pattaya is the apotheosis of Thai society, the construct of a social system that epitomises everything Thailand is.

Hua Hin is Pattaya with a catheter up it's fundament.

    not so old boy!

as the oldies, both the thai traditionalists (who came to hua hin, bought their weekend villas and condos and basked in the reflected glory of being in a "royal" town) and the old falang retirees have gradually died off, we younger folk, again, both the thai offspring of the elders who have inherited the properties and the thousands of foreign tourists, and of course we modern minded and active retirees, have assumed the mantle and made hua hin our own.

with its own airport, the new high speed rail link to bangkok and its being close to a few magnificent national parks, hua hin boasts long stretches of turd free beaches both to the north and to the south, and is backed by the rolling hills and spectacular jungle rainforests of the tenasserim. a thriving restaurant and entertainment scene, minus of course the in your face whoring which thankfully is restricted to one small soi.

hua hins reputation as a civilised town and resort is well deserved and contrasts greatly with that of pattaya, whose reputation taints irrevocably all who made the unfortunate decision to live there!!
