Tourists in Thailand Must Wear Face Masks Outside Even After Covid-19 Declared Endemi

As Thailand struggles to rebuild its battered tourism industry, the government wants tourists to keep wearing face masks outside, despite its plans to classify covid-19 as endemic.

According to the public health minister, the National Communicable Diseases Committee has started to discuss post-pandemic plans, including requirements for visitors to keep wearing face masks even outside.

Anutin Charnvirakul, Public Health Minister, said the panel was considering measures to control Covid-19 after it becomes endemic, following a meeting of the committee on Wednesday.

He said new Covid-19 coronavirus cases are declining, and like many other countries, Thailand also plans to make Covid-19 endemic.

New Omicron Coronavirus cases and fatalities had dropped faster than expected because of public cooperation and increased vaccinations, Mr. Anutin said.

    Thailand pass for tourists

He said that steps are being taken to prepare the Kingdom of Thailand for the redefinition of Covid-19 as endemic.

The Public Health Ministry lowered its Covid-19 alert from Level 4 to Level 3, and provincial authorities were asked to prepare their own action plans.

Planned measures would include universal protection, universal vaccination, and access to hospital beds, doctors, medical supplies, and vaccines. Entertainment venues would also be covered, he said.

According to him, new infections are found in fewer than 10 tourists per day; thus, the Thailand Pass entry registration for arrivals could be lifted.

To control Covid-19, Mr. Anutin said, the Department of Disease Control will encourage tourists to wear face masks.

So if I flash my Thai driver's license or visa I can get away without one?

They never fail to find new ways to manifest their utter stupidity.

Given it is not likely anyone could catch COVID in the open air negotiating their passage on foot along public highways, at historic sites or on beaches, one truly does wonder what the purpose of donning a mask might serve.

Truly, quite the silliest folk in the region.

Everyone knows wearing a mask is only required when standing, because when you sit down for dinner the pesky bug can't spread. Must be the thicker air or something.

The gist is that they supposedly "want" to make it mandatory but they haven't passed any laws yet. As it's only for foreigners it's probably a stupid idea from that witless twat A***** again.

In Thailand it also becomes highly transmissible if mixed with alcohol in a body, not on it.

I do have to wonder about the confused mindset of the Thai authorities/officialdom...
Surely, one might consider that they should've been past this type of thing some time ago.
    Obviously, not.

And yet you remain convinced that I was ‘run out of Thailand due to lack of funds’. You jump on any silly proposal to divert attention from your own failings.

I left Thailand because the substance of immigration law changed to my detriment. I really didn’t want or need to transfer my income into a country run by fools.

I had a choice that you denied yourself, claiming that you had responsibilities that required you to remain. I had choices that you didn’t, because you tied yourself to a country you hate.

I moved out because I was not foolish enough to invest my life savings in such an unreliable and unpredictable country. I kept my options open and moved elsewhere in the tropics. It’s not perfect but it is reasonable here. Life is good here. You obviously cannot claim the same.

    Your life saving's is a paltry Bt.800,000 ?

Sounds to me like you left Thailand because you failed at life.

There is no evidence that any new Thai law on mask-wearing will only be for foreigners. That's just made up shit.

    Encouragement.

But perhaps a younger model would be better for posters in Thailand's beach resorts.

Chas, what on earth prompted that?!

Your post bears no relation to either my post or the topic under debate. Are you alright? Just come back from a session in your local?

Given developments the wingman and I are in agreement that Thailand is probably a better prospect than resuming our former residence in Blighty.

I still hanker over the Iberian peninsula/Cyclades but as a venue for my wife it simply does not appeal so here we stay.

I'm sorry to hear of your money problems - I did empathise with your ilk when they imposed the new visa regime for Brits, septics etc., but luckily I have not been so disadvantaged and enjoy rather more freedom of choice than you.

The thing is, my wife has a family and social network here which she enjoys and also likes the city life as well as proximity to the coast. I too like life here but that doesn't alter the fact their society is medieval, their government is idiotic and corrupt, and the average Thai is cognitively impaired, ignorant and not a little stupid.

Bali must get quite boring. Fine for a break but ..........

It's safe to say that if you see:

^^It's not easy to imagine how he could humiliate himself further.

But he's clearly determined to do so.

It was prompted by your penchant for insisting how great your life is, whilst complaining about it constantly.
It doesn’t really matter if it’s your marital ties, or your condo keeping you in Thailand. You pretending that you have choices, when you quite clearly don’t have such choices, is quite amusing, as you stumble through the hoops presented to aliens in Thailand. You can’t resist complains about it.
The whining noises emitted by the likes of Cyrille must be music to your ears. His range of subjects to grumble about are greater than yours, but no less amusing.
You and others have invested in people and property. I have done neither of those things.
Most folk accept their lot and get on with their lives, making the most of it. A few posters constantly complain about the situation they find themselves in, and invent reasons why they should stay.

While I do not wish you ill in any way, I do wish you would stop carping, or do something about the situation that clearly irks you so much.

My situation is far removed from that which you seem to prefer it to be. I have few complaints about the life I have chosen, except for supposedly educated people like you and Cyrille constantly grumbling about something you could change, but you apparently choose not to.
