Does CSI:TD have an Indian office?
A much-loved dad who had recently retired to India accidentally fell into a river and drowned while enjoying his daily ritual of yoga practice.
Iain Francis, of Moretonhampstead in Devon, is thought to have hit his head as he fell on March 26, 2019, and was probably already unconscious by the time he entered the water.
His daughter Angela told an inquest at Exeter’s County Hall on Tuesday: ‘He went to India in October 2018 to enjoy his retirement in warmer climate where he could stretch and climatise. He intended indeed to come back in the spring.’
Iain, 68, had no known medical conditions and was described as being ‘extremely’ health and fit for his age. He did yoga every day to ease pain in his hips and knees.
The inquest heard the family had to wait a long time for more information about his death from the Foreign Commonwealth Office and the Indian authorities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Before retiring Iain was a plumber but had also worked as a financial consultant across 13 countries including Nigeria, Vietnam and Bangladesh.
He travelled to India alone after retiring and had been staying in the district of Koppal in Karnataka.
He died at the Hanumanahalli Thungabhandra River Gangavathi.
