Unvaccinated People in Thailand May Face Restrictions

Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has called on unvaccinated people to get their shots against Covid-19 or they may face restrictions.

The call comes as the Public Health ministry plans to ramp up its covid-19 vaccination campaign over the next two weeks. Above all to achieve a target of administering 100 million covid-19 vaccine doses.

The Public Health ministry reports more than 85 million vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 10 million people have yet to receive any vaccine shots.

Dr. Kiatiphum Wongrajit, the public health permanent secretary, said the health ministry plans to administer 14 million vaccine shots by month’s end. With 8.6 million vaccine doses set as first shots and 5.4 million vaccine doses as second and third vaccinations.

To boost the shots, Dr. Kiatiphum said Nov 27-Dec 5 is being proposed as Thailand’s nationwide vaccination week. Various agencies are expected to participate in the covid-19 vaccination drive.

Dr. Kiatiphum also said the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will order provincial governors to keep encouraging citizens to get vaccinated as soon as they possibly can.

    Vaccine sanction measures

He said that Provincial Governors may also issue new social sanction measures. Ones that will require people to show proof of vaccination prior to entering public places.

“The CCSA wants the target group to get their shots and it may come up with measures to give people an incentive to get vaccinated,” Dr. Kiatiphum said.

Furthermore, if necessary, the CCSA may impose a rule mandating people to show they have received at least one dose when attending activities in public places,” he said.

Meanwhile, a third of Thai people have doubts or refuse to be vaccinated, according to the Suan Dusit Poll, while a separate survey.

Many of them twist and amplify arguments made by US politicians and also Michael Yeadon, a former Pfizer scientist and a Covid-vaccine skeptic who’s become an icon for anti-vaxxers. In Thailand, some are refusing vaccines from China’s Sinovac Biotech and the UK’s AstraZeneca.

Thais/foreigners can see their certificates on this app — and print them, if they want to.

I'd say the unvaccinated are going to have a problem throughout the globe soon, starting to see other countries saying same.

    Who's got a 3D printer?

I'm thinking maybe there is a market for a line of cheeky "anti-farang" amulets.

They came round the village last week to give one of the Chinese free vaccines. They threatened restrictions unless it was taken. MIL has to wait until March for her paid Pfizer jabs. Hospital only gets 1000 doses at a time.
She'll be staying in the village until then....

We will be isolating ourselves for at least the first 5 days after reaching the village. There are too many old folks we don't want to risk contaminating. PCR negative on Thursday. Hotel and PCR on Sunday but that's not enough.

A friend arrived in Qatar 3 weeks ago following roughly same procedure and tested positive 6 days after arrival. He was vaccinated with pfizer a couple of weeks before us. Only symptoms were runny nose and lack of smell.

Quite a few down with it at work last week. None in serious condition as all vaccinated. Not allowed to enter work unless vaccinated now.
