Heavy monsoon rains in recent weeks have left many areas of Thailand river banks and canals have overflowed causing flooding in people’s homes. One woman awoke to find her bedroom had been turned into an aquarium and posted on TikTok fish swimming in the floodwaters of her bedroom.
She uploaded a video to TikTok of the incident, garnering more than 1.2 million views and 4,000 comments.
In the 39-second Tik Tok video clip, hundreds of small fish could be seen swimming in almost knee-deep water with the woman standing on a chair.
The woman from Nakhon Chai Si district in central Thailand’s Pathum Thani province wrote in her caption that her room was filled with young northern snakehead fish, a type of snakehead fish that can be found in China and South Korea. One netizen joked in Thai that the fish can “accompany you to sleep”.
In many areas of central Thailand’s Pathum Thani province flooding has also affected workers who have had to wade through ankle-deep water to serve customers at noodle shops.
Even more, about 30 northern and central Thailand provinces have been hit by flooding because of rising levels of the famous Chao Phraya river which flows through Bangkok.
Furthermore, a few restaurants stayed open for customers who dined shin-deep in water.
