The only reason I did not do this is because I read reports that some Immigration officers declined to accept details from an 'inactive' account. I can't understand why. I have long since given up knowing what to think about Immigration policies, I just want things to be easy.
If there are recommendations for fixed deposits that are known to work at any Immigration office then that is where I'd put my funds.
BTW, for my MM2H visa in Malaysia it is mandatory to put the funds into a fixed deposit. Government permission is required to touch the money.
i have had a fixed ac.with LH.BANK FOR OVER 9YRS,the letter from bank to imm.has always been A1 by the staff,i get it the day before my extension and only once i have had a problem, that was with a new imm.officer that didnt know the rules, they soon got rid of her. my ext.is for retirement at KORAT.
reading what one cyber expert wanted to know WHY didnt the banks security system send out elerts of unusual activty.for banks to say straight away we WILL REFUND all them that have been hit, speaks for itself.
40,000 people hit by bank fraud
Police are investigating after about 40,000 people lost at least 10 million baht as a result of unauthorised online transactions.
The commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), Pol Lt Gen Kornchai Klaiklung, said the police are in talks with the Bank of Thailand and the Thai Bankers' Association to find a solution.
They are refunding because they know there is no way they can blame it on the customers. I'd go so far as to say they probably won't even do it unless people complain.
Banks are thieving little shits after all.
Same with all the PPI shit, if you didn't ask, you didn't get, even if they knew they owed you it.

A Bank Manager suggested to his complaining customer who had 11 withdrawals for 1,050 Baht each.
You was drunk he said, you could not remember what you did.
His argument fell apart when the customer informed him, ATM machines dont issue 50 baht notes
By way of update, the Bangkok Bank refunded my Baht8K on Saturday morning.
That is pretty quick and indicative of the embarrassment the banks must be feeling.
I was told most victims were with Bangkok Bank plus some at Krungsri and Kasikorn.
