Thread: 54-year-old Chonburi man arrested after attacking vehicles, threatening passerby

A man who claimed he is a “close personal friend” of the Thai Prime Minister was arrested Thursday after reportedly running along a Chonburi road while hitting random vehicles and threatening and screaming at passerby.


The Mueang Chonburi Police were notified of the incident Thursday (October 7th) on Settakit – Ban Bueng Road in Baan Suan sub-district in the early evening.


The man was identified as Mr. Prapaijit Pratummang, 54, and was quickly arrested by Chonburi police following what police stated was random, unprovoked attacks on motor vehicles and threats to pedestrians and passerby.

However, Mueang Chonburi police were surprised once they detained the suspect, as Prapaijit was uncooperative and claimed to be a close personal friend of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan O’Cha, demanding to be brought to his “friend” immediately. Prapaijit reportedly told Mueang Chonburi police that they would be chastised by Prayut for detaining him.


After a significant time period of debates and negotiation with Prapaijit, Mueang Chonburi police stated they would take him to meet Prayut personally at a nearby golf course. Prapaijit agreed and became cooperative at this point in the negotiation.


Unfortunately for Prapaijit, he was taken to the Mueang Chonburi Police Station instead. Mueang Chonburi police later told the associated Thai press that they found no evidence that Prapaijit had ever met or knew the Prime Minister. He remained in custody facing multiple charges of property damage and disrupting the peace as of press time.
